[1] Need draws them [Gandalf]
Condition
Bearer must be a unique companion (except the Ring-Bearer). Bearer loses all game text.
At the start of your turn, you may exert bearer to search your discard pile for a companion with the same title as bearer. Bearer gains all game text of that character until the end of your turn. At the end of your turn, remove that card from the game or discard this condition.
Kinda convoluted. But I like the concept. Could combo nicely with gandalf, leader of men or aragorn, strider.

If bearer is the ring bearer, discard this condition. Bearer loses all game text.

Why can't the Ring-bearer bear this condition? I think since Ringed Resistance, being the Ring-bearer is not dependent on having that in your game text (even if the ringed resistance isn't actually shown on the card). And you can always clarify "Bearer loses all game text (except Ring-bearer). I might also make the card unique, and I think I'd rather it fetched your guys from your draw deck and put them in the discard pile.
Cool idea!

I think it might just be to avoid being able to put a non-Ring-bearer's text on a Ring-bearer (for fear of broken combos, or easily getting around alternative Ring-bearer drawbacks). However, I do think it might be simpler to say "Plays on a unique companion (except the Ring-bearer)."

Yeah fair point.

Sam has it right. ARB's would have it too easy getting around their text otherwise. The cool thing is though, you just have 4 different versions of Aragorn or Gandalf (or any other key character) and you can use a different text each turn based on what you need for that turn. I was actually thinking about using a slightly different version of this for my virtual Steadfast Champion, but the flavor didn't fit.

That's what I figured was going on! I think it works for Steadfast Champion maybe if you restrict it to Gandalf. Maybe you could also avoid the ARB awkwardness by not losing the basic version's game text and just adding game texts from other copies.

haha, well I guess everyone would know what my entry is :P

I think that would also get rid of problems with using it on Mithrandir or Defender of the West.

•Gandalf, Mithrandir (6R30) would be nice with that card XD

How about this:
(0) I Am No Man [rohan]
Event • Response
If a skirmish involving a non-unique [rohan] Man is about to start, play Eowyn from hand to transfer all cards and wounds borne by that Man to Eowyn (without paying their twilight costs), have Eowyn replace that Man in the skirmish, and discard that Man. Eowyn's twilight cost is -2.
EDIT: No this isn't a serious DC (it's not too useful), just my take on the whole companions-replacing-companions thing.

I like this a lot, but I think it's too easy to pull of right now. It needs a bigger drawback.

Hmmm. Mithrandir gains The White Wizard text. S13 before sword, staff, etc.

How about:
(0) Need draws them [Gandalf]
Event • Response
If the turn is about to start, spot Gandalf and a unique companion (except the Ring-bearer), add [X], where X is the twilight cost of that companion, and discard from hand a companion with the same title as that companion to give that companion the game text of the card you discarded until the end of the turn.

It's very wordy. :fire:
