Title: Race to Mount Doom
Post by: Thranduil on March 27, 2010, 04:26:45 PM
One of the DC entries gave me a fantastic idea for a card:

[7] Race to !Mount Doom [Gollum] (FP)
Event • Regroup
Stealth.
If the fellowship is in region 3, discard Sméagol to search your draw deck for any number of Shadow cards and remove them from the game. Shuffle your draw deck.
R

So the idea, you have to get there as quickly as possible, so you remove the excess baggage. Could be an absurdly powerful combo card. What do you think?

Worse than the horn deck.

Worse than the horn deck.
Not quite. It gets rid of all your Shadow cards, but it doesn't draw all your FP cards!

Actually, I've got to go with Lurtzy on this. Dangerous implications, even at [7].

Limit the number of cards, or say "remove up to X cards from one culture" or something like that.

How about restricting it to region 3? That way, it's harder to break it and easier to use it for the purpose the flavour means it to.

In that case, you should have to spot Frodo and Sam and discard Smeagol. Or make it a condition that you have to discard Smeagol to play, but then has a clause that Smeagol cannot be played for the rest of the game.

Good thoughts - I've gone halfway with what you suggest. What do we think about the new version?

Well, as I like my cards to be Movie Block eligible, I have little appreciation for 'region 3.' Anyways, by then wouldn't you want to just double from 7 to 9 anyways?

This would be very fun with a Radagast move deck.

To strong for my taste... Maybe not discard, but put in the deadpile and something smeagol has to spot for instance Frodo and sam or if you can spot bilbo just bilbo.

....any number of Shadow cards and remove them from the game.

isn't statements like this the kind of stuff you find in the DC parody thread?

No, that would be, "If the fellowship is in region 3, discard Sméagol to search each draw deck for any number of Shadow cards and remove them from the game."
