Title: Deep in thought
Post by: dalkilthur on April 02, 2010, 03:42:47 AM
Hi,

When Deep in thought is played, it says that if you spot Gandalf and 4 twilight tokens all Shadow conditions are discarded. Imagine there are no twilight tokens when you play this card, does its effect take place? That is, do the 4 twilight tokens that the card adds as its cost count towards the tokens that have to be spotted?

Thanks!!!

Quote from: CR, cost
You must meet any requirements to play a card (or perform an action) before paying its costs. (See spot.)

Quote from: CR, spot
The word spot sets up a requirement for playing a card or using a special ability in conjunction with a noun such as, “To play, spot an Elf.”

The twilight cost is (thankfully) an honest-to-goodness cost, but spotting Gandalf and [4] are both requirements. You don't play DiT and then attempt to spot those.

This same question was literally asked a week ago (http://lotrtcgdb.com/forums/index.php/topic,4335.0.html).

not exactly the same question, but the same principle (Fury Of The White Rider)

Please look for previous decisions before asking a question.
