Title: Troll Swarm
Post by: Mythdracon on April 02, 2010, 05:40:01 PM
Prepare for beastliness!

SHADOW (31) incl. 17 trolls
Troll's Keyward, Keeper of the Beast x4
Vicious Warg x4
Ordnance Grunt x2
Tower Troll x2
Beastly Olog-Hai x2
Cave Troll of Moria, Savage Menace x4
Porter Troll x3
Half-Troll of Far Harad (to play Troll's Keyward from Discard)
Horror of Harad
Orc Spear x4
Forced March
Orkish Warg Master (to play mount on Troll's Keyward if it's not in hand)
Goblin Hordes x2

I'd like to keep the number at 34 since my Freeps side is 34, so I need 3 more cards, some say I should just fill those up with trolls--what do you think? Also, I'd like advice on what sites to add, and whether Courtyard Parapet (which adds burdens) is worth including for Enemy Upon Enemy.

I find the best way to run Troll Swarm is to keep it at 30 cards.

4x Troll's Keyward, Keeper of The Beast
4x Relentless Warg
21x Trolls
1x Orkish, Warg-Master

This way is more likely to to add 5 or 6 twilight per exertion with keyward rather than 3 or 4 as there are always heaps of trolls in hand.

Keyward's text should be the main focus point of the deck. Warg-master to bring back wargs, Mountain Troll to bring back Keyward and Warg-Master.

Yeah, keep it limited to as many trolls you can possibly get. The rest is just not really needed that much.

I don't have any Relentless Wargs.

For trolls, any recommendations on specific trolls I should have? I have the Mountain Troll recommended to me, what about others? Are the Age's End trolls worth it? They seem to operate more around threats than anything else.

Also, how strong is a Troll swarm usually? I'm guessing they'd easily be removed by Roaming Rangers, like most everything else, but how does it stack up against the conventional Dwarven fellowship, say?

well

as long as durin isn't defender+1, gimli will get burdens, wounds and threats quickly, and relentless warg isn't needed, it's just better than vicious warg

Updated my card list a bit. I can't find 2 other Goblin Hordes to add. Or 2 more trolls, they are too rare it seems. What should I do? #-o

Goblin Hordes are expensive however the troll swarm deck receives a huge boost from it, because some trolls, the keyward are unique I try to run 2 to three copies of unique minions in this deck at most.  Combined with fellowship that depletes your deck of fellowship cards quickly IE Saved from the Fire or perhaps momentous gathering allows for most fellowship cards to be played from the deck; in short most of the cards you draw as the game wears on is mostly shadow.  I would suggest that you perhaps buy two copies of goblin hordes if possible for it will help boost your decks efficiency if your opponent fellowship is not discarding conditions with Palando and other pesky cards.  In all honesty there are few fellowships that can stand up to a good troll deck, next to my nija gollum deck I would say that a troll swarm is one of my fun and easiest decks to play because of it's simplicity.
