Title: Zombies and horror movies
Post by: chompers on April 07, 2010, 02:06:37 AM
Hi all - i love zombie and horror movies and am interested if there are others out there that do as well. My username actually comes from my interest in zombies.

Anyway - I have spent a little time designing my own ccg based on a survival theme from my favourite horror movies. I started a while back but haven't looked at it for awhile. It is still in very early development. Might be a long shot, but I was wondering if there is any interest out there to share some ideas?

You know, there are not many things that frighten me, but most illogically, spiders and zombies do. Something about the fact that they could be my own former buddies coming after me, or perhaps that a certain virus or something could realistically trigger a zombie scenario...I dunno. Just something about them always gets to me.

Base it off of Zombieland.  You can give personalities cardio points and have a Bill Murray ally and an Eddie Van Halen zombie villain.

Have you seen Shawn of the Dead? Might be just the ticket for you, haha. ;)

Yeah, I actually did get roped into seeing that, and while much of it was pretty humorous, I still squirmed a bit during the defense of The Winchester and a few other scenes. I'm a zombie wuss. :-[

My wife detests horror films, but LOVES zombie films. Go figure.

+1 to 28 Days Later, not a film for Blu-ray as its meant to look grainy. 28 Weeks Later isnt bad either, the opening terrified me!

In the beginning of the 80's we had some pirate tv-broadcasters here and they played movies during the night. One time I saw a zombiefilm, just don't remember the name, but I was so scared that I never enjoyed zombiemovies again.. It gives me the creeps since then... Although I saw 28 days later (didn't enjoy it).. On the other hand I like horror movies..

I didn't enjoy that movie at all.  It was so raw and rude that it didn't have any point to it.  There were funny parts, sure, but is the quest for a Twinky the best they could come up with.  Just imagine if Tolkien had replaced the Ring with a Twinky....

Knowing the gluttonous nature of Hobbits, it probably wouldn't have been too hard to destroy! ;)

I love zombie movies as well! I enjoy vampires and werewolves storylines (NOT twilight) as well. but zombies have always been the best! 28 weeks later was good too.

try searching the Last Blood webcomic, it's got a very original storyline and is really good! (no longer gets updated, too bad).  also get copies of the walking dead, its a good comic too.

I never really liked zombies or horror movies. I find zombies funny and Shawn of the Dead is to me the best zombie movie. Horror movies rarely scare me... (I actually don't recall any horror movie scaring me), but movies such as Donnie Darko... I still shiver when I think about it. Most horror movies are based on either disgusting blood and gore or scaring people by sudden sounds or pictures. It takes a really good film-making to make a movie scary without those effects.

zombie movies are more of under the survival horror genre. what i like about zombie films is that it provides an apocalyptic view of things. a group of survivors can't win against a zombie outbreak...they're not fighting to win, only fighting to live.  and everyday they live, it only seems as though they're only getting closer to the end.

I love zombie films, my friends and I are working on a short film that includes zombies in it. We're at a halt right now while we try to get the skin tearing and guts to look realistic. It's a comedy.
