Title: Gimli Dwarf of Erebor Question
Post by: putridbreath on April 26, 2010, 12:57:42 PM
Would Gimli, Dwarf of Erebor be suitable in an Arwen, Echo of Luthien deck?
I'd really like to build one, but I have only two Mallorn-trees and no set 10 Elven cards besides Arwen and Galadriel, LR. To bide time for my Mallorn-trees to show up, I thought about adding Gimli, Dwarf of Erebor as a starting companion with Arwen. What are your opinions on this? I also thought that Gimli could maybe accompany any Echo of Luthien/Mallordn-trees deck in case your opponent packed condition removal.

I do not consider him to be suitable for this purpose unless you have many big companions who can handle the trouble of adding [2] each turn.

A better option woulld be play poormans and add Elven Warrior

A little off topic, but did anybody try to build a Deck around elven Warrior? I think he's got lots of potential, but as there are other, stronger cards in Hunters Block...

I was considering Arwen, Echo of Luthien deck. One of my solutions was Hugin, EFL with some help of Elrond, Herald to Gil-Galad. Hugin, EFL requires Gandalf spotting so you may start with Leader of Men and Echo of Luthien. Have Hugin, EFL x4 so you can discard to heal and heal him with Elrond, HtGG if necessary.

Really interesting idea you have, the problem is that this won't work in Movie cus' Elrond, Herald to Gil-Galad is banned in movie, and Hugin won't be able to do his job alone...

You are such a lie....Elrond HtGG ia not banned :D..... ;). So it is a suitable idea, and I like it!

It's Elrond, LoR that's banned.  For just cause too.

Haha. Hugin. That's a pretty cool idea.

Sorry for that, I though of Lord of Rivendell cus' he would be waaay better in that Deck, making you even draw cards!

EDIT: And I'm also writing my composition for solo guitar, and take sometimes a look on TLHH, so I don't concentrate myself so much on that, though.

Nice.  You should write lyrics for it.  About Hugin.  'Cause he's sick. ;)

*lol* I'm actually a pretty good singer, but this time, I think solo guitar is ok. Anway, does anybody play guitar outta here? Cus' I arrange songs for solo guitar like Little wonders (rob thomas) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsT2URr1Igc), smooth (santana) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXp413NynFk), Linkin Park (http://www.youtube.com/user/linkinparktv) and if someone's intereseted... they are prett hard to play, but I think they sound very well.

Amazing how we got from Echo of Luthien to Hugin and now music. ;) I am a singer, btw. Mostly opera singer (I haven't yet sang in an opera, but that's my repertoire), however, I most enjoy singing rock and metal ;)

Well, then you have to fight against the cliche that Rock and Metal Singers do just have to sing like 3 different notes ;)

Anyway, I once arranged "the kid's aren't alright (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRa8beT1mHY)" (which is more punk anyway) for accoustic guitar trio and it sounds pretty cool, though.

I have written some stuff.  With the old band I was in we wrote on the heavier side.  You can listen to some shabby recordings at www.myspace.com/thebenedictionrocks.  "The End" is probably the best song up there.

Lately, I've just been writing indie acoustic stuff.  Think I've finally found my "sound".

You guys are awesome. I wish I was a musician, I used to play piano but stopped. Maybe I should have kept up with it for stress relief. Instead, I draw and paint really well. I'm at 16+ years of artistry now! :)

Anyhow, I also really like Echo of Luthien + Mallorn Trees idea. There are various ways you could use it in Standard + expanded with Uncertain Future and such, but in Movie you're stuck with relatively few options, like Into the West.
