Title: New sites with movie block?
Post by: Psyjedi on May 10, 2010, 09:13:07 PM
Sorry if this exists on the boards somewhere already, I'm sure it does: But has anyone tried using post movie block sites and the new site rules with the movie block? I'm curious to see if there's anything glaringly broken, or if players can just use the new rules and sites as is.

Thanks!
PJ

The biggest problem you will have is cultures.  new sites use [man], [orc], and  [Uruk] cultures while movie block cards do not. Or are you refering to playing which ever site you fancy when a fellowship moves?

I'm referring to playing whichever site you fancy, as long as it's one of the sites from Shadows through Ages End, paying the site cost and region cost, etc.

I'd imagine playing this way you just would use sites that refer to cultures since they can't be used, but it might be even more interesting to try and convert those sites...

I'll give it a try and see what happens =)

Thanks!

Expanded allows for post movie block cards. That's not what he's looking for.

I've tried mixing block sites, pre and post shadow sites, and using block sites in any order.  it is a pain.  It is never cool when your opponent plays golden hall for site 8. Their is a reason to big D's maddness as far as sites are concerned.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about using only post-movie block sites with only movie block cards... Sounds like no ones invented this format yet! I'll try it out and see how it goes =D

did so! but works in casual play, but wouldn't be fit in a toernament. Also it can fives problem with certain cards like hobbit farmer and Morannon; part of their gametext doesn't work with the new sites. But i think Tbiesty made a solution to that.

Also tried to use the old site with the new sitemechanic. And that's fun to, but one weakness: there are 2 sites which become overpowered (bridge of khazad dhum and rotk site 8 (gollum)). All old sites with a new version like ettenmmors you should take the gametext of the newer version, otherwise overpowered #$&*@! well. mechanic there shadowsitenumber - minus original region + cost actual region played. but there you need to x those 2 sites mentioned (allthough I'm against x-listing).

Hobbit Farmer only works with FOTR sites
Morannon Only works with TTT sites

and he would also need to lose Ettnemoors* cause a Enquea, Thrall Of The One wins the game

He should use the new ettenmoors instead, as I mentioned.
