Well, basically it's just an idea i was toying with for the past month, testing it on gccg, and updating it ofcourse. It's mostly about shadow, which means that fellowship isn't too relevant, but it should burn fellowship as quick as possible. In this case, we used the Elves.
Shadow:
4x Watcher of the Water, Keeper of Westgate
4x Foul Tentacle
4x Huge Tentacle
Gollum, Stinker
Gollum, Dark as Darkness
4x Evil-smelling Fens
2x Plotting
2x Fat One Wants It
4x Lost to the Goblins
4x Captured by the Ring
Freeps:
Frodo, Courteous Halfling
Arwen, Echo of Luthien
Glorfiendel, Revealed in Wrath
2x Cirdan, the Shipwright
2x Gil-Galad, Elven Highking
2x Taurnil, Sharp-eyed Bowman
2x Phial of Galadriel
2x Gwemegil
2x Naith Longbow
2x Asfaloth, Elven Steed
4x Mallorn Trees
2x Shadow Between
4x Supporting Fire
2x Elf Song
2x Company of Archers
There are usually two strategies around this shadow. First one is swarm, and second one is corruption via Lost to the Goblins, and 8th site, Northern Ithilien(playing gollum, and discarding it with Watcher). The freeps are simple elves with mallorn trees, which help me to get rid of cards i don't need, and later still use them in skirmish. It's basically 2 for 1 deal.
The reason I posted this deck is because I'd like to make this deck more failproof, if u know what I mean. :D
All your comments are welcome.

6 threats are 6 burdens....wow. Awesome. I love the idea. Will have to see it in practise though to really judge it.

and 8th site, Northern Ithilien(playing gollum, and discarding it with Watcher).
You can do that multiple times? Playing gollum over and over as long as you have threats? I thought when a card was immediately discarded after you played it (in that case because of the Watcher) you had to ignore the effects of playing that card.
-
Hm...Can u get some feedback on this claim? I've never heard of it before. :/
If it's true...I failed. xD
-
In order to discard something, it must first be in play...I'd assume it works.
Playing gollum requires you to pay his cost and add burdens if you'd like in one swift move. It's not like Northern Ithilien separates the adding of burdens into a separate shadow action. If there is a rule specifying against this in special cases --fine...but from what I can see Pepi found a great way to exploit Watcher in the Water's text, turning a negative line (discard all other minions) into a positive one that drives his strategy.
-
I agree with putridbreath. I am convinced that playing Gollum and thus adding the threats is part of the cost and when those are payed, Gollum is discarded. So yeah, you can play him over and over again, as long as you have threats. With only 3 threats and Fat one Wants it, you add 4 burdens, which is essentially great for 8 pool. I will think of this and take it along :-)

No. Fat one wants it would not work. Here is what Rules say:
"If a card is discarded when it comes into play, ignore any effects triggered when it comes into play. This includes effects from a minion's own game text and from other cards."
Example: If Watcher in the Water, KoW is in play and you play Goblin Runner, [2] is not added.
As for the Northern Ithilien, I am not 100% sure about this, but I think it's text still applies. Cost is removing 2 threats and playing Gollum from discard pile. Gollum is indeed played, even though automatically discarded and if cost is paid, effect happens, which is adding 2 burdens.
-
Nice catch, sad though...would have been a great combo!

Thanx for your post, hrcho. I believe u cleared up all the questions that occured. Wasn't sure about fat one wants it aswell. But anyway...That's when Plotting comes in handy. People usually play big fellowships in movie block, which means that there is a decent amount of twilight when site costs 8. :D
-
Personally I wasn't sure if "effects triggered" applied to a cost/effect situation, but the mention of Northern Ithilien is jogging memories of Decipher having patched this up. That means the So Polite strategy is a goner as well.
I suppose... there's always that Gate of Mordor tentacle deck...
-
Awwwww...I was afraid of this. So this means no more 10 burdens in site 8. :/
But thx for the info m8. At least I'm not livin' in lie anymore. :D

It's a shame that you wasted such a pithy thread title on an illegal deck idea.
Especially such a cool illegal deck idea.
-wtk

Indeed! Well...I had no idea it was illegal. Besides, I was winning with this deck on gccg, and no one ever complained, so i rly thought i had a good thing going. But honestly...The original idea was more about lost to the goblins. That site eight idea just came along the way. After all, 2 burdens are still not such a bad thing, and now i can play something in place of plotting, and fat one wants it. I used to run some uruk hai, and evil afoot, to return tentacles to the draw deck? Any other ideas on how to make them last longer?
-
Any other ideas on how to make them last longer?
Numbing condoms.

If the fellowship saw a bunch of thentacles wearing condoms, they'd get so freaked out, that they would run for it with the speed sound, and the ring would be destroyed at the end of first book. From shadow's point of view...We don't want the ring getting destroyed that fast :/
-
Speaking of tentacles that wear condoms...

U started it! xD
