Title: What are your favorite "never forget" memories from a LOTR TCG game?
Post by: Tbiesty on July 04, 2010, 07:27:52 AM
Let's hear about some of your best memories from a game.  Perhaps, the funniest/craziest way a game ever ended, or an out of nowhere event changed the whole game?

Here's a couple of my favorites:

1)  I'm at site 5, while my opponent is starting his turn at site 7.  I have Corsairs against his Gandalf (Ring-bearer) with 2 burdens and Shadowfax, Unequaled Steed.  I let him double move to site 9, during which he discarded 2 cards, then added 3 burdens to get to 5 burdens.  I play a couple Corsairs including Corsair Marauder and discard Shadowfax, Unequaled Steed which corrupts Gandalf.

2)  Three player game, both opponents are at site 8 (moving to 9) before me.  With my Moria swarm deck, which didn't really get rolling all game until then, I play 15 minions to kill my first opponent, then 17 minions against my second opponent (who had 9 companions out) and won the game!

Galadriel, Bearer of Wisdom moves with 3 burdens, alone, to site 7. I played nothing in the fellowship phase. I thought, if I am lucky, I will do it. But what is she facing?

Sauron, the Lord of the rings, The Witch-king, Captain of the nine riders, Gollum, Dark as Darkness, Ulaire Enquea, Thrall of the One, Ulaire Cantea, Thrall of the One.

Olorin smashed my Defense... obviously.

I think I had two games in a row where I won with an exhausted Sam, GEW as my only companion.

Where'd he get the twilight for all that?

Olorin has to tell the details. I know, there was a Ithil Stone and a Dark Approach involved. A really bizarre situation, which happens not too often.

Other storry: After a discussion about a rule, that took about 45 Minutes, both did not know anymore, in which phase we were.  Strange game. We did not finish than.

He must have meant Sauron, Dark Lord of Mordor instead of Sauron, The Lord of the Rings

+2      Gollum, Dark as Darkness
-3       Remove 3 burdens with Gollum's text
+2      Ulaire Enquea, Thrall of the One (w/ Dark Approach spotting 4 forests)
+5      Ulaire Cantea, Thrall of the One
+4      The Witch-king, Captain of the Nine Riders (w/ using Toil 2 twice)
+1      Sauron, Dark Lord of Mordor (w/ Ithil Stone and 4 exertions in region 3)

That's all for 11 twilight.

the game i am going to describe is a highlight one when we are talking about lotr tcg with my friends.
we always remember this and lauph with our hearts.

the game was in the official online shizzle.
I was playing the account of greekguy at expanded format.
My fellowship was hobbits.
Frodo 12 res
Sam who spots hobbits and grows
Merry who gives str 2 if u remove 2 cards from the discard pile
pippin + 1 for each tale
and bilbo who removes 1 burden for each other ringbound hobbit.

My shadow is sauron grinder ( sauron orcs , under the watching eye , orc bowmen , hate and a couple of cards added like mumak commander and gothmog )

My opponent plays dwarfs and for shadow morgul orcs  + nazguls .
He had played 3 brc till site 6 and my shadow is quite not hurting him.
BUT hobbits arrive first at site 7.
His fellowship goes to 7 as well.
I think double is the only way.
Till that point my sam is winning  vs every minion he plays.
I enter site 8 and he plays 1 nazgul 5 morgul orcs , gollum dark as darkness and a shelob and then HE STATES = SAM CANNOT BE ASSIGNED TO A SKIRMISH.
he switches the site to the one that skirmish abilities cannot be played.
Frodo dies and gives the ring to sam.
i move to site 9 with sam and bilbo.
6 more minions are played (+8 from the previous site ) but NONE can be assigned to sam due to shelobs text .

the slogan is being said till now  : best way to lose a match = tell to the opponent : sam cannot be assigned to a skirmish.

:)   Awesome!  That's a good one!   :uh-huh:

Yeah, that was a really nice one... but anyway, I still think Paralyzer Shelob is a pretty strong card though, just use it wisely. ;)

Haha, this was a nice game - yeah!

Well it was 7 pool - 6 for region, 1 for companion and site i played was 0. at least i guess it was something like that...
well, a dark approach and toil wikky make many nazgul coming for only a few pool.
2 times dark approach = 4 nazgul for 4 twilight, Gollum for 2, sauron for 1. so it is 7 pool for 6 minions (incl. Witch-king and Sauron) haha... that was fun - all only vs. Galadriel!

***

well another story - I played vs. King89's brother:
my fellow: Gandalf Powerful Guide
my shadow: enduring nazgul

his fellow: Rohan.
his shadow: Beasterlings.

Well, first he started to get his Eomer euquipped with Gamling (at start add 1 to play possession from deck) - and he gave all that possessions to Eomer
The only thing nasty Olorin had to do was playing Ulaire Cantea, assign him with BNAP to Eomer, heal Cantea twice and get Eomer naked.
And this a few times from turn to turn - Kingy's brother got really angry - and therefore me happier :-)

Well, he wanted to take revenge!
At the end of my turn he had 2 Easterlings out and 8 pool. He played Fierce in Despair to discard my Treebeard.
The lightning in his eyes get brighter and brighter. He wanted to take revenge for my bad play with his meanwhile very naked Eomer; and he was awaiting to see my Treebeard in discard pile.
Well, what i did was: play as reaction Board is set. form 8 pool only 1 was left. so pool was out, Fierce in despair was cancelled. But! that not enough, due to that I got Gandy PG out and Board is set is a spell, I even killed a minion in regroup and moved! only one pool and one minion left - and my opponent got crazy!!! He couldn't believe what he saw - hahah!!!

@King89: nice story, right? :-)
@Elrohir: maybe best swarm ever: 6 minions for 7 pool - though i thought it was 7 minions for 7 pool... dont remember right...

My best game ever?...

On GccG

Me [Gondor] Saved From The Fire - Beasterlings

Him
[Dwarven] - [Sauron] Discard

Thankfully, I was playing Courteous Halfling or else I would have lost by site 5, he was trashing my draw deck with his freeps the first few sites, then he killed off gandalf and faramir, preventing me from outrunning him, By site 5 I had 4 burdens on his 7 resistance gimli (2x Lord Of Moria) and had stopped playing minions and focused on holding on to the cards i needed for a last ditch swarm, i managed to get to site 8 first with a hand of 4x Easterling Infantry, Easterling Captain, Easterling Army, Discovered, Easterling Polearm, he had to move past me since I had Defender Of The North, so he doubled, 8-9 with 4 companions, I played my hand, discarded the two Lord of Morias and put 24 strength on his 11 strength gimli! He had no pumps and couldn't use AtaR to pump his strength cause he had 4 burdens!

Playing the single pump in a wraith orc swarm deck after my opponent used tale of the great ring.

When I played Terrible as the Dawn in My movie deck and forced a two elf discard.

i played an orc swarm against a player, who started only with gandalf, the grey pilgrim and frodo. i started against a moria swarm and he had a lot of card draw in his deck.
he played elrond, lord of rivendell and foul creation. then he saw my hand  :o. three goblin runners and two cheap sauron orcs. he used elrond to draw two more cards, but he didnĀ“t draw a companion. so he conceded the game, before he even moved  .

i played against an sauron orc corruption deck with orc officer and enduring evil. at site 9 he overwhelmed my frodo and produced a big bunch of burdens, but there was no ring-bearer. then i moved the ring to sam, who survived untouched and in great shape.

i played a deck with legolas, dauntless hunter, aragorn, heir to the white city, bill the pony, a talent for not being seen and three monstrous trolls. my shadow was sauron swarm with site control, orc captain card draw and forces of mordor. my opponent was the most famous moria player of mannheim and he played - moria. i moved on and survived cavern entrance (the old one without even skirmish events). he died right there.
