Title: strength reduction
Post by: Imrahil on July 09, 2010, 11:42:42 AM
I love to play Forearmed decks, and this comes up a lot.

if a companion (say Galadriel) is facing a three orc swarm (each with seven strength), and I use forearmed to reveal an Ent Horde...it only effects one minion right?  So Galadriel (at four strength with the ring) is still facing a combined fourteen strength and consequently gets overwhelmed.

Or...does the first orc become a whopping -8 strength, bringing the minion total strength down to six?  I have been told that in these situations you are meant to play with the combined strength of all minions in the skirmish, so it also makes sense just to subtract 15 from 21, also leaving 6.

Thanks.

Each Forearmed will only affect one minion.

exactly. Cards do what they say.

Game Text: Skirmish: Reveal the top card of your draw deck to make a minion skirmishing an Elf strength -X, where X is the twilight cost of the revealed card.

Okay, so that minion becomes negative 8 strength.  Which still allows Galadriel to survive the skirmish

Modifiers into the negative do not affect the overall total of strength calculation. It would be considered a 0 for the total, so she would be facing 14.

what we discussed here (http://lotrtcgdb.com/forums/index.php/topic,5144.0.html) about 10 days ago.
