Same Bat time, same Bat channel?
-
Dont understand?
-
Same as before?
-
Well AP, AC, EL, Bib and MH havent turned up so ur gonna struggle!
-
Once they come? ???
-
IF, my friend, IF.
Bib and AC arent in the email circle, El and AP have ignored it as MH as.
-
I'd still vote for all of them, yes, but FM is the only one here. Hmmmm....
We don't really need it for now, but if they don't show up once the CC data is back, perhaps it'd be time to promote some new blood. 8)
-
Please let me know if I can help in any way.
-
Ya, same blood, plus Dain's a mod which is good, F_M's back, make him a mod.
I'd be willing to help moderate the MtG section, if it grows big enough to need any help.
-
Dain a mod, FM...Kralik of course... I think that would be enough...I don't want AP to be a mod...nor AC really...
-
I'm on here a lot... not that that automatically qualifies me to be a mod
I'd rather be a rules afficiendo, kinda like how everyone took's Bib or M_H's word to be gospel

on 2nd thought, as long as Mr lurtzy isn't a mod I am fine...
oh and theJord if it went by how much we were on, I would've been a mod years ago

QFT
-
QFT?
-
Yes this is true. I dont think I want to be a mod anyway, I will just take the rank of rules guru.
-
QFT?
Quoted for truth.
-
ah
-
See now how SoP had more posts than I.
"Oh"
"Ah"
"Meh"
At least I say something in my posts...
-
SoP's posts are hardly thought provoking
-
never said they were...I didn't think posts in here counted...I thought it was like a members lounge...
-
Just
set the post count to permanently zero give wannabe spammers 5000 posts each. It's not like it'll change our opinions either way. ;D
-
LOL ;) why are they're lines through your post? I'm so confused...my spammer brain is messed up today ;)
-
;D You guys are crazy. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
You can choose strikethrough as a font that puts a cross through stuff. Also posts count everywhere on this site.
I know i know, its ur dream come true dude.... ;)
-
LOL
no seriously, posts shouldn't count here, its just messed up...I like a place where I can unadulteratedly spam without being criticized for upping my post count.,..I need to get it out of my system...

In trying to think of people who are active, impartial and fair, and who I think people who universally agree with, and/or who probably just deserve it for hanging around so long and contributing much to the community, I nominate the following:
Universal Mods:
Felipe Musco
AnxiousChieftain (should he return)
Menace64
LOTR Forum Mods (universal; all LOTR forums):
Anonymous Prodigy (should he return)
AgentDrake
LOTR General Discussion:
sickofpalantirs
CarpeGuitarrem (if we can get him over here)
LOTR Decks:
NBarden
CarpeGuitarrem
LOTR DCs:
Thranduil
Lem0nhead
LOTR Gameplay:
bibfortuna (if he shows up)
lem0nhead?
TheJord?
Trading/Online Play:
none other than the universal mods
MtG Forum Mod (universal):
NBarden
What do you all think of that? Any suggested additions/subtractions? I don't want to stir up bad feeling among people here...I'm trying to be fair and balanced, like Fox News! :P

here's my list.

I would do DC's if needed and Gameplay if Bib doesnt turn up.
-
we only need one gameplay mod, same with DC's.
-
I'd volunteer to be a universal mod.
Banning people has been my lifelong dream. :clown:
-
I think you would be a good universal mod. You seem fairly fair ;) and balanced.
what is your avatar though?
-
It's a still from one of the best music videos of all time, Fortress by the band Pinback. Pinback also happens to be my favorite band (really laid back indie rock).

stupid blocker ;)

Any other opinions on this? Kralik has already made FM a universal mod, but it'd be nice to get the others in place soon. And what I DON'T want to do is promote folks and then have to axe them afterwards because folks have an issue they didn't bring to the table ahead of time.
If you have a strong opinion you don't want to express publically, send me or Kralik or a PM. But if you DON'T have a strong opinion...well, it'd be good to know that too so we don't have to wait longer than necessary.
-
Well is this a democracy? Are you asking for votes or for volunteers? Or what?
-
Just opinions on my nominations, and perhaps on SoP's suggestions as well. I just want to get a feel for how many people think is a good number and who they should be. Personally, I disagree with SoP in that I think it'd be good to have two for most forums, as folks could be on extended vacation or other disappear (a la EL and AP), but that might just be me.
-
I disagree with SoP except on menace for general and Thran for DC's but like i said i dont mind doing it.
-
Ok, so what exactly can/should I moderate? Which session(s)?
-
As a global moderator, you should have some manner of control in ALL forums. To what extent that control is, I have to confess I'm not sure offhand.
EDIT: Just checked, and it looks like you have pretty much full control over topics and posts. You can sticky, lock, move, split, modify content, etc. But control over other members and the forum controls remain solely with the admins. For now, at least.
Moderators of select boards would have similiar controls over topics in that board(s), but no other boards. Global moderators like yourself, FM, get that control everywhere.
-
Everything looks fine to me.
Can't promise I'd make a particularly effective mod, though, if you do make me one. Nevertheless, I shall endeavor to... Waittaminute.
*checks back at the list*
...SoP? A mod? As in, a guy with unlocking powers? Hahahahahahaha.... Poor NB. Spam Wars. :clown:
But seriously, though. Everything looks perfectly fine to me. As long as we don't have, say, PeterPot or llama modding anything, I'm happy.
Do we have/will we need an RPG mod? Wondering what the most effective thing to do there would be.
-
Mods are not necessarily permanent positions. Should any mod abuse their controls or not do their duties like they should, they can and will be removed. So don't worry about all that. ;)

Probably, yes. You would likely be a good candidate for that, actually, but we'll tackle that another day.
-
Alright, here are the revised proposals, then:
Universal Mods:
Felipe Musco
Menace64
LOTR Forum Mods (universal; all LOTR forums):
AgentDrake
LOTR General Discussion:
sickofpalantirs
LOTR Decks:
NBarden
LOTR DCs:
Thranduil, Lem0nhead (I think they both deserve it by now)
LOTR Gameplay:
TheJord
Trading/Online Play:
none other than the universal mods
RPGing:
TBD
MtG Forum Mod (universal):
NBarden
Note that other members might be added as mods later, especially certain members that are still absent.
If we're all agreed (especially Kralik), I'll go ahead and promote those folks. :D
-
Looks good to me.
If I ever manage to achieve "trustworthy status" I volunteer to help w/ the Trading Forum.
I like to edit things to conform to AutoLink. ;D
-
Tell me, if you're nominating me for a mod, what exactly does a mod need to do?
Thranduil

If all goes smoothly, nothing. ;D
What moderators typically do (and all we'd be asking you to do) is pretty simple. As I see it, they do the following:
- Control content in their moderated forum(s). This is the typical mod task, involving splitting topics if a particular tangent really deserves its own topic, stickying (and unstickying) topics when appropriate, locking/unlocking when appropriate (usually locking when a topic is getting out of hand for one reason or another), and at the extreme side of things, modifying or even deleting inappropriate comments, posts, or entire threads. Like I said, if all goes well, you don't have to do a darn thing, but those are the type of things you MAY need/want to step in for.
- Reporting inappropriate behavior to the admins. Since mods don't (currently, at least) have any direct control over users, any malicious, inappropriate, hurtful, or just plain stupid behavior needs to be dealt with by the admins. This CAN include modifying or deleting certain data, as mentioned above, but most likely will need to be something the admins deal with using the admin tools, possibly all the way up to banning. I don't expect any of our regulars would ever warrant the admins having to step in, but we always need to be on the lookout for bots and less savory characters that might stumble across our boards as they grow and (hopefully) gain a reputation in the LOTR TCG community. Mods are the first line of defense against internal and exteral attacks.
That's really about it. Just use your heads, warn when appropriate, dabble in mod controls when necessary, and things should work out just fine. It's pretty simple, really.
-
I would be a better mod of RPG'ing then of general discussion, though I could do either both or none...dain already is a mod so he can do RPG...
-
Okay cool. Sounds good.
Thanks!
Thranduil
-
Fine by me, though i hear what AD is saying, giving one spammer mod powers is dangerous enough giving it to a spammer with a rival spammer not getting it.. ooo... rerrange the sentence; with fire playing.
;D
-
Alright, I've assigned the moderators we've discussed. Still playing with a few things, but the moderation of the appropriate boards SHOULD be working now.
Good luck to the new moderators! :D
-
The choices are fine by me.
Can any of the mods (other than FM) see the Graveyard? It's invisible to regular members, but I would prefer to send posts there rather than deleting. Let me know if you don't see it and I'll see if I can figure out the appropriate permissions necessary.
-
Cant see anything called the graveyard on the forums, where am i looking though?
-

'Twould be below the MtG forums.
I'm still trying to figure out how to add the local mods to a proper moderator group without accidentally making them universal mods. I think that would be necessary for you to see the Graveyard. I like most of the admin panel here, but this particular task is giving me fits. Very unlike other forums I've administrated before....
-
In that case no its not there :D
-
In that case no its not there :D
Right. Working on it....
-
Maybe giving all mods their own special group, which has access to the Graveyard?
-
I can modify, but I can't sticky...and can I be a mod in RPG forum?
-
Rules mod, happy days! ;D
-
Why cant i sticky stuff? :P
-
Why cant i sticky stuff? :P
Uh...you SHOULD be able to, just not here.
-
Hmm i know it has be in chamber of m but where do i do it?
-
Most of those options should show up at the bottom of the thread. You should see something like:
Move Topic | Remove Topic | Lock Tpic | Set Topic Sticky | Merge Topics
-
Otherwise, just edit the main post of the thread, it also gives you the option to do so.
-
Everything looks fine to me.

Nobody figured out that was me...

I knew...and told Lem0n.

I knew... and didn't care. ;)

Hahahaha... Nope. I was convinced it was bob.

We need someone to mod Lurtzy, his spam is out of control
-
Soooo, can I stalk him, then?
-
We need someone to mod Lurtzy, his spam is out of control
;D ;D ;D
-
Youre not supposed to be happy with that ML, TJ is right!
-
I've already been stalking him in bag end...but my jurisdiction ends there...
-
Well, if he gets completely out of hand, I'll step up Operation Overlord: Lurtzy Phase. For now, he's just an annoyance, and does actually have some constructive posts.
Sometimes. ;)
-
never ;)
-
never ;)
He has clearly learnt from the best
-
What are you talking about? 8)

This, exactly.
-
This, exactly.
...
-
Yeah, he's good, fellas. But do not fear, for I am here! I'll keep him in line. ;)
-

no if you actually look outside the members lounge, most of my posts are constructive...and even in the members lounge the majority are on topic.
-
Yeah SoP is not so much as "spammer" as an overly zealous poster. Most are constructive, its just he posts on everything he can as opposed to posting on everything with ANYthing without justification.
-
Shhh....don't tell him. You'll hurt his feelings.
-
Since this seems resolved, I'm going to go ahead and unsticky it. :)
-
Shhh....don't tell him. You'll hurt his feelings.
actually, now that I have a ton of posts, I don't want to be called a spammer much anymore...official spammer...or worthful spammer...but not just spammer...actually I think I have MPD with respect to spamming...its complicated.
