Title: The Moonlighters Thread.
Post by: menace64 on August 10, 2008, 04:16:53 AM
You may only post in this thread between the hours of 2am and 7am, local time.

This thread is for those of us without bedtimes, who just can't find sleep or just happen to be up at a horrible, sunless hour. In this thread is to be discussed any random thoughts brought on my sleeplessness. I think I may be the only one with bouts of insomnia, but who knows. The awesomeness of this thread may keep some of you up at night!

If you light-lovers dare invade this thread, I will use my moderation powers to turn your avatar into a snuggly kitten with rainbows for eyes.

Don't you dare tempt me!

You may only post in this thread between the hours of 2am and 7am, local time.

Dare to change my avvy, I dare to delete this thread. Muahaha. Anyways, I already have a snuggly kitten, so its really not worth it.

Oh, and I was up at 6:00 AM today.

Darn it. I think I'm slipping back into an insomnia phase. I haven't had more than 3 hours of sleep at a time in several days... and I tried sleeping for over 2 hours tonight with no success.

*Sigh*

I'm too old to stay up that late anymore. Throws off my pill taking regiment and my adult diaper schedule. :P

How's your memory thing doing? Better? Worse? About the same? Could that be affecting your sleep?

Memory is noticeably better; we finally nailed down the cause (autoimmune thyroid disease). I think my week of sleeplessness stems from just how perpetually-sensitive my sleep has always been. Once I get comfortable falling asleep a certain way, changing anything is disastrous. My brother/roommate had a friend stay with us all week and I just moved out last night, so presently nothing is the same.

You said it, CG. Blarg.

Darn. It's stupidly late (3:30am local time) and I need to get up for work at 7. I hate not being able to sleep. This always seems to happen to me on Sunday nights.

Ho hum. Good night all (or should that be good morning).

Who needs sleep?  Well, me for one.  But our little one is awake and coughing so I brought him downstairs so as to not awaken the missus.

It's 5:15, we got up at 5 (had to read the latest on the Assassin game first :) )

I guess getting up early doesn't bother me as much as it used to.  When the twins were little I used to get up at 5 to feed them.  Mind you, I do like to sleep in to at least 7.  8am is a complete luxury.

And strange thing, when I came downstairs, I thought a cop car was outside our house because I could see flashing lights.. Turns out it was one of the little ones toys that has started playing all by itself - reminded me of Toy Story, I must have been this close to catching the toys "alive."

*whimpers*

My streak of sleeping every night is finally ended. Tonight it's the perfect storm of sleepless-inducing incidents:

-> My legs really, really hurt (it happens sometimes)
-> I accidentally took a nap tonight
-> My throat hurts
-> The internet in my apartment is back after weeks of absence

On the plus side, I've got a perfect-condition NES and N64 I can play for the remainder of the night.  w00t for MegaMan 4!

My computer tells me it's 2:37 in the A.M.

I'm hardly tired at all!

My psych teacher says that the time that the body usually feels the most tired is 3:00 A.M. If you're trying to stay up all night, once you get past that, apparently it'll be a lot easier.

I'm not gonna try, though.

I just played Rock Band for the first time today. I like Guitar Hero better. But whatever.

No, there isn't a point to this post. I'm just saying whatever comes to mind knowing that someone else must deprive themselves of sleep in order to respond to it!

Life is complicated.

I don't know what it'd be like to be a parent. Overprotective parents seem so annoying to me now but I know that when I'm older I'll be super-paranoid about my kids. What goes around, comes around, I guess. Or what came around will go around again. Or something.

Goodnight!

I mean, Good Morning!

Mine tells me it's 2:00, but I posted *after* you did! Paradox!!

My psych teacher says that the time that the body usually feels the most tired is 3:00 A.M. If you're trying to stay up all night, once you get past that, apparently it'll be a lot easier.

I'm not gonna try, though.

My psych teacher blew off his pinkie on the fourth of July. Yay, Kansas.

I just played Rock Band for the first time today. I like Guitar Hero better. But whatever.

I like the drums. I do, I do.

No, there isn't a point to this post. I'm just saying whatever comes to mind knowing that someone else must deprive themselves of sleep in order to respond to it!

All I know is I don't have to be at work for another 14 hours and I just did some food shopping.

Life is complicated.

Death is not.

I don't know what it'd be like to be a parent. Overprotective parents seem so annoying to me now but I know that when I'm older I'll be super-paranoid about my kids. What goes around, comes around, I guess. Or what came around will go around again. Or something.

My parents were always very lenient on what us kids chose to do with NOLINKour time/money/lives (I've dropped out of college twice now and my parents were understanding of my reasons/logic). As youngsters, we each decided what hobbies interested us the most - be it soccer, baseball, playing trumpet, writing, acting, whatever - and our parents did their best to keep us going.

But on the other side, they did *not* tolerate a "gimmy gimmy" attitude and laid down the Law whenever required. My mother carried inside her purse a large wooden spoon, which she would unsheathe when one of us boys got out of line - in a restaurant, in the mall, at school functions (extremely embarrassing) and whoop our little bottoms until we understood their point: don't be stupid, least of all around other people.

Case in point: I am going to physically punish whatever children I have, because it teaches them manners, respect, and common sense. I agree that overprotective parents that coddle their bratty child's every whim are infuriating; even more so when I realize that those snot-nosed, spoiled heathens will eventually "grow up" and think that they have some kind of say in the matters of the world. It will be the job of my children to beat those people down at every possible moment.

Goodnight!

I mean, Good Morning!

Both to you.

Okay, so it's only 1:17 in the A.M. Sue me. All I know is I'm only gonna get like 4 hours of sleep before school. I'm gonna dieee. Thank the lord for study hall and the sleep time it provides.

Seriously, I think high school kids need nap time more than preschoolers. I certainly do.

Girl problems suck.

I really want to post here because I'm often up at ridiculous hours (that's what being a student is all about! :) ) but it's only 0049 local time. :(

Ah well, I'm going to bed. Have to get up at 0730 tomorrow to be ready in time for my wonderful lectures. Hooray probability and statistics!

Oh wait, I haven't done the questions for that lecture so there's no point in me going. I don't need to get up until my next lecture at 1300! \:D/

I'm happy now. This thread has changed my life.

If you're on page 5 you can just start writing nonsense because by then your teacher has already quit reading.

5:00am diapering/feeding/rocking which has stretched to 6:00am now.

I'll be reminding little miss Elaina about all this when she's old enough.

"DaaaAAAAaaad! Why do I have to get up so early for school?!"

"Let me tell you a tale about getting up early morning after morning, Elaina...a TRUE story...."

So it's 3:35 A.M. and Mr. EL can't sleep. My girlfriend called about an hour ago with some really bad news. Now I'm a bit angry, and a bit sad, but mostly I can't stop my mind running. And I also can't stop twitching and jerking and shivering.

I'm probably off to the good 'ol Chamber for some self-medication of sorts. Whoopee.

I claim delayed right to post here. I was up until 1:30 last night, thanks to my roommate, who has no interest in speaking to anyone until 1 am, and then he wants to discuss philosophy while he's lying in bed. AAARRRRGH!!!!

Anyway, Dain, to answer your question, the logical result of the above series of arguments is that caffeine is sacred.

Caffeine destroys Society.
Society destroys Freedom.
Freedom is the right of all sentient beings (and therefore should not be destroyed.)
Caffeine, therefore, destroys the enemy of freedom.

Caffeine, therefore, is a sacred weapon for the protection of all sentient beings.

My roommate did the same to me first night of freshman year! Kept me up 'til 6 am!

He also had a habit of talking in his sleep. One night, just as I was drifting off, he let out a bloodcurdling scream:

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!1111eleventy-one!!!11!

Turns out he was dreaming about zombies chasing him. We had a good laugh over it, and then just as I was drifting off again:

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!111

Zombies were back?
