In the middle of a movie block game, I send a message to the other player in all caps. It wasn't meant to be mean, I was excited with how the game was turning out (in my favor) and I realized, the message I sent, though harmless in nature, could have been severly misinterpreted. It could have lead the other player to believe I was a jerk. I apologized when I realized how the message appeared in the top corner of the screen. Needless to say, when you can't attach emotion to your messages in GCCG, it is best to stay away from all caps! again, if you're here under a different handle, sorry cho.

sorry chief, more philisophical.

Kinda goes for any online interaction, sarcasm, emotions, are hard to convey through a digital medium.
-
Unless, of course, you go with /sarcasm, or the short version of it: ¬¬
-
What exactly did you say?
-
Yeah, I was wondering myself. Give us the dirty!

It wasn't that bad, i just felt horrid. Anyways, I was playing a ninja gollum shadow... I'll just stop there cause that is reason enough to be considered a jerk...haha, just kidding. So my opponent was using an arb, isildur i think. Him or boro. definantly a gondor rb. we were having one of those games where player 'A' forgets to count fellowship when moving (for twilight) or forgets to exert because of under the watching eye. So player 'B' says, "don't forget to add twilight, or don't forget to exert." nothing cruel, just a reminder. Anyways, he assigned his rb to skirmish gollum and could no longer exert his other companions so he needed to add burdens. He assigns isildur and waits for the skirmish. At this point, in my mind, I'm thinking /excitedly BURDENS PRECIOUS, ADD BURDENS AH HA HA HA HAAAAA! All i typed though was "BURDENS!" without the emotion, or the previously explained thought, my all caps comment could be interpreted as, ADD BUDENS YOU IDIOT! DON'T FORGET TO ADD BUDENS CAUSE I'M A JERK WHO TYPES IN ALL CAPS AND LIKES TO MAKE PEOPLE FEEL BAD ABOUT FORGETTING STUFF, SO ADD YOUR BURDENS DIMROD! Needless to say, I apologized, but I could tell, by the flow of the game the other player was slightly disturbed. To his credit though, afterwards he asked to play another game of LOTR with me.
-
Well, you are not a jerk for ninja gollum, you are not a jerk for being enthousistic, you are maybe a jerk for assuming he was slightly disturbed :D (watch the emotion) and you are not a jerk for apoligizing....
Play any form of discard, and it would have been a whole different story.
