Hey there. This is my first post on these forums so hello everyone. What I'm wondering is in relation to a previous post that asked which cards to purchase you guys said stay away from everything after movie block. Do most of you think that the Shadows set is a bad set? I can get a box of it for $12 at wholesalegaming which would give me quite a bit of variety but if it's not really good I don't want to waste my money. Also, if you add the Shadows cards in and play in an open environment can it still be fun and competitive? Those are my questions for now. I hope all of you had a great Christmas or Hanukkah or whatever you celebrate and I look forward to talking with you on here. Peace

Ket is what you would call... let me see, a movie nazi. Just kidding. However, Ket is a very strong supporter of movie block formats. I too support them. It took me a while to get there, but I can now officailly say, I prefer movie block. Shadows however, is a very good set. especially for 12 dollars. some of my favorite cards are in shadows, strider, g for grand and the starter gandalf, leader of the company? Anyways, sets 11-13 are considered "balanced" it is sets 15-18 which are out of hand. I don't include set 19 in the OP category because there isn't much they can do. unloaded fellowship keyword which revolves around rabbit stew. That is about it, yuppee!(note the sarcasim) sadly, the depowering of set 19 came too little too late. So, to sum up, set 11 good, movie block better. Welcome to the boards! ;)

that's quite a good deal for $12. anyways, movie block is best of all the formats...mostly because i don't think that there's a format that uses strictly sets 1-14 (please correct me if im wrong). As jdizzy pointed out, the imba stuff begins at set 15 which really destroys everythings.

Thanks for the responses guys. I guess it won't be too big of a deal to add in War of the Ring block to my movie block collection going by what you guys have said. I just didn't want to fall into the power war that it seems some of the cards fell into after Mount Doom but it seems most of those cards are from sets 14 on. Seeing as how alot of those sets are very expensive I doubt I'll have to worry about getting any of those anyway. Thanks again for the comments. Peace
