What do you all think about adding Poorman's as an "official" GCCG format? In the decks section we have a definition for "Poorman's Expanded" -- what about "Poorman's Movie"? X/R-lists for either?
-
Yes, yes, yes! Yes!... I mean.. sure, why not. I think that having all R cards X-ed is sufficient. I can't of any combo or OP card that doesn't involve some rare. Maybe Gondorian Captain, but that too requires some good rare cards to make it OP or NPE.
-
Sure, I mean, I am (or better say, was) one of the few players that really tried to support the format by even building Poorman's Block (like WotR Block) Decks, which are loads of fun to play.
-
i think it is a great idea
-
What sorts of cards should be on an X/R-list for Movie?
-
The only thing coming to my mind is still the Mordor Fiend/Dark Lord's Summons combination. I think Saruman's Power and Sleep Caradhras will see a lot of play, so all conditions you can really benefit from are very vulnarable.
-
Mordor Fiend - The Dark Lord's Summons will not be as powerful, because the (ab)user might discard his hand in the process. But there is a chance he might not. Aye, this might be worth to be on an X-list. Although, I'd rather X The Dark Lord's Summons than Mordor Fiend. TDLS never sees play as it is, but Mordor Fiend might.

Believe me, I once participated in a poorman's tournament in which both were allowed. I was able to swarm with like 4 trolls and 8-12 other minions. Made a nice fellowship with hobbits that took cards out of the deck with PewI....
-
Mordor Fiend can be easily abused in many ways, not just with TDLS. Any card that requires you to pay an amount of twilight can be used as often as you like. Just restrict the ability to a limit of once per turn, and you'll be fine.
-
:gp: for that idea Witchkingx5

Well, you need a card drawing engine to make the full potential workable. If you can't draw cards, it is just your hand. So enlighten me how it would be abused without TDLS?
-
Well, you could, for example, play a bunch of Orc Bowmen and Grond all for free.
-
yeah, if you had the perfect hand indeed.
-
So if the format sounds good, should we start new threads for the X-/R- lists?
-
Fine by me.
-

Exactly. He allows you to just drop any amount of conditions from your hand, and even if you "only" get to play like 3x Conditions that cost 3, I still consider that minion being OP.
-
But again, 9 pool, that is not an insane ammount to get per site. Having 3 orc bowmen in hand, that is insane. So really, I don't think he would see that much play without the drawengine.

Make it "(limit once per turn)" and problem solved. Let me know when you are ready to move that direction.

Tbiesty, you just want to alter cards, now don't you ;-)

Yeah, you got me. I just think it's silly that we leave cards in binders/boxes and never use them because of a simple design oversight that is easily corrected.

me thinks so too.
