Hello all,
an old player taking tentative steps to return to the game with his friends here.
I haven't played a game since set 11 released, but my friends and I have picked up the game again. We've been having fun relearning all our old decks, but I figured it's about time for something new :) We're pretty much restricted to sets 1 to 10 since we stopped playing then.
A solo Smeagol deck really draws me, but I'd like to see an example of one before I start building, since I don't know all of the cards by heart like I used to. Most decks I've found online include cards from set 11 and on, so no help there.
Is there anyone out here that can show me the way?
Thanks in advance!

Essential cards (you know other than Smeagol, BoS)
usually start Pippin, Hobbit Of Some Intelligence and Faramir, Son Of Denethor and some combination of the following cards...
Still Far Ahead
Nasty
Clever Hobbits
I like to use Not Listening but some people may disagree
Where Shall We Go (can be a life-saver)
Never
Poor Wretch
Follow Smeagol
Don't Look At Them
but standard is much, much better for solo smeagol cause you get cards like Nice Fish, There's Another Way, Naked Waste, Fishing Boat, Safe Passage, Come Away, Gladden Homestead, Duality and One Good Turn Deserves Another.

l3333 makes the important point, Solo Smeagol has a really limited cardpool in Movie. So he never is really solo, people take Faramir, SoD with him.

Smeagollum has a pretty nice solo Smeagol Movie deck. See if you can find him.

forgive me for reviving an old topic, but if i'm using smeagol BoGS, why or how, could I use never? Is it even possible? Or would it just be used as a non-unique condition for discarding with nasty and clever hobbits. Secondly, is there a way to get these cards out of the discard pile once they're used...say with dear friends?

Solo Smeagol is gash in Movie. I have tried running it with Ninja Gollum and It's Mine, adding in PATHS, O Elbereth! Gilthoniel! and Coat of Mail for Faramir, SoD. Still, not very effective, as doubling is usually a guaranteed death.
You can't discard conditions (unless they run Gollum, which is tasty for Clever Hobbits and Nasty).
There is no recursion in the [Gollum] FP culture. Dear Friends is weak in this deck.
I have considered allies to help him out, but the twilight is a major issue as you lack the Standard cards that help with that.

+1. He stinks.

Stinker indeed :)

Now i'm not trying to "defend" the idea but can't you use athelas for condition removal? That's what I do for gorn defender decks
-
In order to use athelas you need a Gondor comp. Thus it's not a solo deck.

athelas only works for conditions on companions, not for conditions in support areas. (Which I believe is not very good).

It has been mentioned above that Faramir, SoD goes with Smeagol. Which is why athelas was suggested.

Gondorian Merchant, anyone?
Bilbo, Well-Spoken Gentlehobbit would probably be better support for handling conditions, but he'd take up a lot of deck spots adding tales. Of course, you could add four Till Durin Wakes Again for a (0) cost tale...
