Title: Lackey
Post by: TheJord on May 09, 2008, 12:59:57 PM
I need help with Lackey, I find it quite a little less user-friendly than SdA.

Maybe sometime this weekend I could give you a tutorial?

TheJord, Trevor has been releasing some updates to Lackey and it looks like some kinks are still being worked out. You may want to give it another week or so before trying it out.

Sometime I need to update the LotR plugin as well... it's a little dated.

I have the latest plug-in but I am still way confused.

I'd say give it until the next version of Lackey is released, and then I could show you around if you want. The interface takes some getting used to, but it's not difficult once you get going.

As of this post it is up -- I know Trevor was having some issues with it.

What do you mean by "edit pictures"? What are you trying to do, specifically?

Um, sorry I meant edit card titles and stats not pictures.  :-[

Although it's not up-to-date with the card database, the data file is LackeyCCG\plugins\lotr\sets\CardData.txt. Open it with a spreadsheet program (Excel/OpenOffice/etc) as tab-delimited.

If you're wanting to make a custom dream-card set, let me know and I'll walk you through it. Or do you have some other reason to edit the data?

I know there are some minor spelling and stats error stil left.

Lots, actually. Once I finish with the DB, and it has all of the "new" cards (RF's going up today), then I will focus on updating Lackey. Actually, the majority of the time will go into fixing the starter decks. Very few actually work, and there are some missing. We'll get there. ;)

I tried adding a test card and it showed up when I opened lackey but it has no picture. How would I go about changing that?

What does it have under the "Imagefile" column? If you want, copy a picture from another card, or use something like "spawned" for a blank picture.

Lackey supports showing text instead of card pictures, which would probably be the way to go if you made a dream card set. For the time being, I don't recommend distributing dream card pictures... no need to get on Decipher's bad side. ;)

What with this...

And this

I can't see a reason why not to stick with SdA...?

GT was asking about the ability to add dream cards or virtual sets. It is not possible with SdA without having the original authors make changes. Furthermore, modifying the SdA.xml data could cause crashes.

I think it's still there if you use the PluginFinder... been a while though...

Does anyone have this plugin?   This link does not work anymore:    http://lotrtcgdb.com/lackey

If someone does have it and could send it as a zip file to me, let me know.  Thanks!

Now that I've given LackeyCCG a try, I do like it a lot.  It appears to have improved a lot lately.

I ended up creating some new LOTR TCG plugins for LackeyCCG.  In anyone wants them, let me know.

How does your plugin differ from the original LackeyCCG one?

I'm not sure, because I don't know what was in the original one.

FYI, I did choose to only include cards up through Mount Doom, since that's all anyone I play with uses anyway.

I've actually got the old plugin if you're still looking for it.

I thought you'd meant that you'd created a new plugin with dream cards or something like that.

I didn't realize the old plugin was dead until I went back and read the rest of the thread. It looks like it used to be hosted here.

It was pretty fun figuring out how to create a plug-in.
I actually created two different LOTR plug-ins. One to replace the dead plug-in, and another specifically for my playing group that includes stuff for our CCG League house rules (http://lotrtcgdb.com/forums/index.php/topic,5743.0.html).  Very fun!

Here is the LOTR plug-in to replace the dead plug-in (you load this from the plug-in preferences within LackeyCCG): http://webpages.charter.net/tlbiesterfeld/LackeyCCG/lotrtcg/updatelist.txt (http://webpages.charter.net/tlbiesterfeld/LackeyCCG/lotrtcg/updatelist.txt)

Thanks!

Tbiesty, if you want to maintain the "official" LotR plugin, let me know! I abandoned LackeyCCG after GCCG came to town, but I still have most of the old files (including card data).
