Title: Lady of Ithilien Clarification
Post by: uncle_elrond on March 11, 2011, 01:34:57 PM
Her text says that the opponent must wound a minion for each wound on a minion that she is skirmishing.  In this game I was playing, she was fight an exhausted Cave Troll.  I use her text to make the opponent assign 3 wounds.  He gives one to a Goblin Runner and it dies.  Then he says that he assigned all three wounds to it so he doesn't have to give out any more.  I tried to explain that after the first the Runner was dead so it couldn't be assigned any more wounds so the other 2 still had to be given to his other minions, but he said that they can all go to the same minion and any extra are discarded.  I said that would be true if that was the only minion on table.  After the Runner, there were still 3 minions left that could take the wounds.  He said they didn't have to take them, but I said he still did.  I think I am right, but I wanted this clarified in case I run into this problem again.

You are right.

With his argument your opponent could give you 10 archery and you could say back to him "I'll assign all the wounds to Goblin Runner".

Could he have misinterpreted the "for each" rule? Otherwise, that is serious mistreatment of the Runner.

The only thing I can see is if he assumed that "wound a minion" meant assigning the wounds to only one minion.  I probably should have compared it to say Might of Numenor for another example.  I think the heal a companion part could be comparable to maybe make it clearer.
