Title: OFFICIAL POLL: Allowing certain Promos in Movie Block
Post by: hrcho on March 15, 2011, 02:59:56 PM
Discussion. (http://lotrtcgdb.com/forums/index.php/topic,6585.0.html)

The promos in question are:

Gimli, Dwarven Delegate
Arwen, Maiden of Rivendell
Gandalf, Stormcrow
Boromir, Steward's Heir
Eomer, Forthwith Banished

I implore anyone voting to give us some explanation of their vote (especially if it's negative).

Please don't vote if you're not a player on GCCG.

5 votes and no explanations.

Poll reset.

I like the idea of having a few extra deck building options for rohan and gondor knights/rangers. Arwen is cool, but the rest won't even be used.

I don't think there was a need for reset. People do have a right to vote and not to explain themselves, even though I prefer if they do. Also, I think Kralik will check the poll at the end for any voters who are not GCCG players and remove their votes.

Btw., I didn't know we had an Official Poll section. Did you just create it or I just didn't see it? :)

Its been here a while.

Also, I think if people want to be involved in creation of House Rules, they need to voice their opinion of why/why not they want the changes made. People have COMPLAINED that they are not being heard, then we will make it so everyone will be heard.

I don't believe these cards will break any decks, so they can be added.

I voted "No".  I know I don't officially play GCCG, but Gerontius and I accept most of the changes made on these boards in our games so I think I should have a say.

Honestly, I don't think that's ok. GCCG supports House Rules and Decipher official rules so players can choose which suits them best. Any changes made will affect House Rules only and if you don't even play on GCCG, I must say it's not really ok to vote (no matter what you voted for).

You and Gerontius can make any changes and play by any rules you want. It's your preference and the two you have to agree on what you want to play and how you want to play it.

That's why making "official" house rules is just plain stupid.

Lurtzy, you have no business here. Buzz off.

And to all: Please post with your vote -- even if it's short.

Okay, retract one vote for "no" then I guess.  I just plan on getting involved with GCCG at a later point, and I'd hate all the important decisions to be made without me. :-)

If you plan on becoming part of the GCCG community, I think its pretty fair to consider your vote.

These promos add some fun new options for decks while not adding any new mechanics, etc.  Looks good to me.

I agree with TheJord. If you do indeed plan on playing on GCCG, your vote is as good as any other. However, please decide beforehand if you even want to play by House Rules or will you keep playing by official Deciher rules. If you know you'll go the Decipher way, it's kinda pointless voting.

If you like the House Rules and wanna play by them, that's great, just please add a bit of explanation to your voting (especially if you vote No).

I voted yes. I think that it's helpful for simplicity's sake to simply allow all promos from 0P1 to 0P68. Although I do think that Eomer is a bit much for [1].

I voted no, mostly because of Eomer. I find him too cheap for what he does. Standard 7/3 with a nice ability cost 3 (sometimes 2). Not 1. Even at 2 I find him rather cheap compared to other 7/3 like Imrahil and Boromir by example.

Tell me, in how many decks will you choose Eomer, Forthwith Banished over Third Marshal of Riddermark? Looking at things that way, Eomer, TmoR is a 2 cost companion with a lot of strength. Not very often will he be faced against 1 vitality minions and against anyone else, he gets a lot of power.

Also, as I already said in the discussion, there are not that many options available to you. You have to spot a [rohan] Man, which is at least [2], play Eomer, Forthwith Banished and then you have [1] left. The only playable companion is either Merry or Pippin. That's it. That's his only strength.

Not to mention that Eomer, Forthwith Banished is a kitty-kat compared to Glorfindel and no one has a problem with him.

I'm not sure that this is the best place to argue the point; rather, vote and state your opinion, but discuss it elsewhere.

I'm for including new cards to play. Mainly boromir seems like a great idea.
However i voted no because of the bulk approach. I don't think any of those cards are OP. But some people like Kralik and Ringbearer have some issues with Eomer. I propose that we make a different voting process to address the possible problems with each card. It would take more time, but if we all keep on working, time wont be a problem.

PS: While i was writing this hrcho posted. I agree with him but i insist that the bulk approach isn't ver good. Even a vote for each card, or make a separate vote just for Eomer since it seems to be the only one prone to discussion

Do not be afraid to try stuff out (i.e. do some playtesting) guys.  We can talk forever about whether we think a card is just too OP, but if you never actually try it out, you're just guessing.  Nothing decided here has to be permanent anyway.  We can reevaluate things a few months down the road.

I voted "heck yes!" These promos were designed to be played in movie block so why not include them? Eomer is a bit tough but so is 9R+16.

They are additional cards bringing some flexibility to the game. None of them are overpowered... So i say bring on...

This poll closes in two days, but there have been no new votes for several days now. I think we need more votes and more people involved in this.

@Kralik: Could you please add a notification on GCCG about this poll and if needed, I'll add a few more days until the poll closes.

I vote yes. They were legal for tournament play back when movie block was standard, weren't they?

I vote yes. These cards offer more flexibility with deckbuilding combinations and aren't particularly overpowered.

I dont think they add much flexibility, as only Boromir is playable and Eomer is very strong. The other ones just dont do #$&*@!.

I guess the outcome will be play them, and if we see that nothing changes game-wise, no big deal.

If one of them breaks the game, which I doubt as none have a special ability for a loop, we can re assess then.
