Title: Nazgul corruption
Post by: Haszor on March 29, 2011, 07:57:08 AM
I came across this card a little while ago and it made me start planning a deck around it.

 4x Shapes Slowly Advancing
 2x Surrounded by Wraiths
 4x Ulaire Lemenya, Winged Hunter
 2x Ulaire Enquea, Black Threat
 4x Ulaire Toldea, Black Shadow
 4x Dark Approach
 4x Ulaire Otsea, Duplicitous Specter
4x Ulaire Nertea, Servant of the Shadow
 3x The Witch-King, Black Lord

 Sites
 East Road
 Woody-End
 The Angle
 Hill of Sight
 Crossroads of the Fallen Kings
 Doorway to Doom
 Sirannon Ruins
 Morannon Plains
 Anduin River

The strategy is pretty straight forward although I'm not pulling it off well.  Get as many wraiths to the regroup phase as possible then trash them using SSA.  If they play the companions back into play next turn it gives me extra twilight to work with and thanks to SbW they have to risk either losing their companions and not being able to return them to hand or giving me more twilight to work with.  Dark Approach lets me play my minions for cheaper than usual and Black Shadow bring that back into hand for reuse.  Winged Hunter lets me trash one more of their companions and Duplicitous Specter lets me draw more cards and helps cycle.  Comments?

You really need to have Morannon Plains and Ulaire Nelya, TotNR, with a Free Peoples deck you can bid high and make them go first.

repeat. that is the ONLY way to do it. without that, you are dependent on surviving till regroup. which is not at all easy in expanded. its nice when it happens, lets you add on more tokens, but morannon plains + nelya is essential.

I'm confused.  If my opponent moves first then I play my sites and don't need Nelya right?

nelya replaces the site so that you can play it again and again.

Wait it's possible to replace your own site?  I'm really confused now.

The biggest problem you are going to have is keeping Shapes Slowly Advancing on the table against all of the Free Peoples condition removal available.

in a post shadows sitepath, yes. they have no set sitenumber, so you can replace them with whatever you want.

So in order to repeatedly use that site I'd exert him once to take the site back and give them a different one, then I'd just give them the site again?  I do have 4 SSA so if one gets discarded I can play another one, though I do lose all the tokens I had on it.  ](*,)  Anyways I couldn't find anything to keep it in play so just pray they don't have any condition removal. Token on Shapes Slowly Advancing
Opponent moves to Morannon Plains
Add 1 more token to Shapes Slowly Advancing
Use Ulaire Nelya, TotNR to switch the site
When they next move, play Morannon Plains again

Rinse and repeat

Also, wound prevention via They Feel the Precious, as Ranger's Longbow is a big threat. I recommend dropping Winged Shadow for Eternally Threatening, and maybe Servant of the Shadow for Faster than Winds.

twilight nazzies with his terrible servants would be easiest to survive til regroup

Winged Hunter gives me the option of being able to trash an extra one of their companions before I begin to discard.  I'm also having trouble trying to get enough Nazgul out there and I need all the extra twilight I can get.  If he costs only two twilight it's going to help me out a lot more than a minion that costs six, has a great effect and I can't play.

Twilight nazzies also cost way to much :(

I didn't know you could play the same site over again. Because I thought you had to have 9 different sites. :)

You do...

But for the majority of the game, you won't have 9 sites in play.
