Title: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Gil-Estel on May 11, 2008, 03:48:07 AM
We started a tourny for some time ago, and I am entousiast about continueing the tournement. I advanced into the second round, which ought to be a fellowshipblock deck.

I had won my first game against Glorfindel, who I dont think has made it over here yet. NB has said he wont be able to play much anymore, so if Gillian makes it over he shud face Mr Lurtzy. AP is also missing so NK may advance by default.

Who is still left in the tourney?
Title: Re: CC tournement
Post by: TheJord on May 12, 2008, 02:51:15 AM
TheJord
Glorfindel (if he shows up)
AP (if he shows up)
Gillian (if he shows up)
Mr Lurtzy
NBarden (I doubt he will be able to now)
Gil-Estel
Kralik

woohoo a default advancement that is fine by me I suppose if everyone (no majority vote) agrees. I want everyone still in the tourney to allow me back if I get one no I will seat out since I did lose round one to a very worth opponent.

Post by: Kralik on May 12, 2008, 06:00:39 AM
Well, AP and I were waiting to play a tie-breaker...
Title: Re: CC tournement
Post by: TheJord on May 12, 2008, 03:40:52 PM
The way I see it, only 4 of us remain

TheJord
Kralik
MR Lurtzy
G-E

We should settle this. If we have to go back because the others show up, so be it!

I'm ready to get clobbered. Which format?
Title: Re: CC tournement
Post by: TheJord on May 13, 2008, 12:42:29 AM
I'm a big fan of standard, and I think I'm the only one with Hunters block decks. I also have War of the Ring block decks, and some sketchy RotK decks, but that is as far back as I go. I know the next round was FotR, but I only have the one deck.

But I dont mind, I'll play whatever.

Does the winner get crowned as Champion of TLHH?

maybe we can start all over, or add others as well, for we do it all for fun....Participation is more important than winning..... 8)

If you want to finish the CC tournament with our remaining participants, say AYE!
Title: Re: CC tournement
Post by: Gillian on May 19, 2008, 01:50:02 PM
so if Gillian makes it over he shud face Mr Lurtzy.

I am here, is Mr Lurtzy still my oponent?
Title: Re: CC tournement
Post by: TheJord on May 19, 2008, 02:16:00 PM
Glorfindel is back, so is Gillian. Lurtzy shud face Gillian, I still have 1 (possibly 2) games to go with Glorfindel, so we will see what happens. Kralik will receive a bye it seems

AP giving up on CC?

I think he already has. :( Hasn't he?
Both our moderating A's, AP and AC, are as good as gone, I think.

I've been away so lets see if we can do anything with this

Glorfindel vs TheJord

G-E vs Kralik

MR Lurtzy vs Gillian

Any chance of it happening?

I'm in, though I do not know the format, well, at this moment, cause I didn't take the effort to check thoroughly :D

Maybe is time for new tournament.
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: MR. Lurtzy on August 20, 2008, 11:32:43 AM
Was it fellowship block?
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Gillian on August 20, 2008, 11:59:01 AM
Old tournament was in mixed blocks.
First round standard, second fellowship, but there was no any match in second round.
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament

How about a play-through-the-blocks Tourney? Or perhaps something like:

1) Fellowship
2) Towers
3) King
4) Movie
5) War of the Ring
6) Hunters
7) Expanded
8) Standard

Hey, sounds like fun! If you people agree i want to get in...i don´t have any experience in blocks over Mount Doom but i can try it.

I don´t know how many free time gets to play this tourney (i have only mondays free and eventually some other nights...) but i guess everyone are somehow busy with other things so this should not be a big problem...

Once AP had the other tourney started, I think it was about a 1-to-2-week time frame for each match. You would just get with your partner and decide when is best for both of you.

It is 8 rounds. On last tournament we didn't completed even first round.
I think that tournament of 4 rounds is more realistic.
So maybe this would be better:
1) Fellowship
2) Movie
3) Standard
4) Expanded
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament

If you only picked 4, I think those would be a good choice.

yeah sign me back up, first tourney was sweet though I lost in round one .
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Gillian on August 22, 2008, 07:28:16 AM
Ok. I think there is interest for a tournament.
4 rounds

1. fellowship
2. Movie
3. Standard
4. Expanded

Applyed so far:
Kralik
Pepin The Breve
MR. Lurtzy
NappyKorn
Gillian

We can start maybee next week.
So people start making Fellowship, and Movie decs.
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Pepin The Breve on August 22, 2008, 09:23:00 AM
In my case there will be "start making Standard and Expanded decks

I just hope not be beaten to badly in these formats  :)

How exactly will work this touney? For example I match another player in fellowship block and if i won i face other winner in the movie block? Or everyone faces each other? or whatever..hehehe.  ???
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: NappyKorn on August 22, 2008, 10:58:57 AM
Is this thing going to be single elimination or do we do double elimination where the losers of each game plays the losers in a losers bracket and the winners just advance? Double Elimination would be more fun IMHO but might drag the tournament out a bt causing lack of interest like the last one. Who is the tournament director anyway, LOL.
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Gillian on August 25, 2008, 01:15:43 PM
No elimination. 4 rounds for all players.
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: NappyKorn on August 25, 2008, 01:16:57 PM
So it will be just who has the most wins at the end of all 4 rounds? What happens in the event of players being tied? Not sure it would be possible to tie, but you have to expect the possiblity .
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Gillian on August 25, 2008, 02:23:55 PM
Players with same score will play against eachother. In second round winers vs. winers, in third 2:0  vs 2:0, 1:1 vs 1:1...
In case of tied score at the end of tournament we will count opposition score, but we need more players on tournament.

Gil-Estel, Jordy, Dain what's up with you?
You are active SDA players.
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Gillian2 on September 03, 2008, 05:14:42 AM
I have new model for the tournament.
8 players - first 8 that will apply
3 rounds -  maybe 4 if necessary
5 games in one round, each game in different format (Fellowship, Movie, War of the Ring+Hunters-block, Expanded, Standard)
Each round can bring up to 5 points to player, it depedns of how much player won games in round.
In first round oponents will be chosen by random choise, after by similarly score.
You can apply for tournament.

I'm always up for it. You can automatically count me in.

  Count me in!

What sets are within War of the rings + Hunters (Shadow to Ages End?)

If there will be 8 players isn´t better just do 4 games in one round? Sorry if i´m missing something...
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament

i'm in also
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament

TheJord
Pepin The Breve
Gil-Estel
Gillian

We need 4 players more, or only 2. We can have tournament with 6 players.

1. yes, shadow in that format is almost same as in standard, but fellowship is different
2. 5 game are because of format more

One thing more. We need judge for tournament. That should be someone who will not play at tournament. Players will send their decklist to him, before start of tournament. There will be no change of decks on tournament, so build your decs visely.

I'm almost sure that NK will join also...Like the whole round idea, so we get to play in all different formats....expanded...love it, love it......you'll see why

I looked through the Decipher Tournament Guidelines and I'm intrigued, how does everyone feel about setting up an ELO ranking system?

FYI, an ELO ranking system is what DGMA used to rank the top players in the world. Its how Chess players are graded.

I'm probably going to have to bow out here... too little time at the moment. I could possibly play in a couple of weeks, but I'm sure you'd rather start sooner than later. On a side note, what's with "Gillian2"?
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament

Kralik you can be judge.
I am Gillian and Gillian2. I forgot my password for Gillian, so I made new nick when I am on other computer.

The Jord ranking is interesting idea.

There is one more thing. x-list for movie format. Galadriel, Lady Redeemed was baned when Shadows was actual, but even before Shadows it was obvius that Galadriel is broken.
I think we should make her broken for that format.
Legolas, Dauntless Hunter, and Bill Ferney were x-listed with start of Shadows, so they are legal.
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Pepin The Breve on September 05, 2008, 01:54:30 PM
Why we don´t use the expanded list for movie block?  Galadriel is obvious broken, but Ferny can be a killer if you get him in the early sites. I really don´t like Legolas, DH too but anyway i don´t know what the rest of participants think...

I know that before shadow we didn´t have even a restricted list so maybe it´s the case to defines what cards should be restricted and so... Falming Brand was X´ed  before shadows and then have been placed on the restricted (maybe because of the devastanting new Guls...).

Well, i will play with you guys decided (since Galadriel, LoL still banned...hehehe).

Ah, which sitepath we will run at Movie Format? just RoTK?
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Kralik on September 05, 2008, 02:12:31 PM
Dauntless Hunter is powerful but not too bad when you have only Merry and Pippin. Throw in all of the other unbound hobbits from the newer sets and he's ridiculous.
Title: Re: CC Online Tournament
Post by: Gillian on September 05, 2008, 02:41:10 PM
Movie format is standard before shadows. So cards which was banned than, are banned at this format, and we are playing on Rotk block sites.
I don't like Legolas, DH also, and I wouldn't play deck with him, but I think we shouldn't x-list him.
Galadriel, Lady Redeemed was x-listed in shadows, but she was broken from the begining.

Oh, and Gillian -- if you need help resetting your password, PM me from "Gillian" and I'll change it to "Gillian2"'s password.

Eh...I run her anyways. Elladan + Elrohir + Galadriel = pwnage.

In Open.

Anyways, I could conceivably be in, though I use Hamachi.

It is 6 of us now. We can wait until the end of week if 2 more players will apply for tournament.
Anyway we can start at tusday, and in monday we can have have first round pairs and deliver uor decklists to a judge.
We need someone neutral for a judge, also.
MR. Lurtzy and NappyKorn was applied earlier for the tournament, and they have advantage for this tournament.

List of players is:
Pepin The Breve
NBarden
Kralik
Gillian
TheJord
Gil-Estel
