Title: Misprint on Tengwar 2C102 Frodo, RA
Post by: rubbercarp on May 13, 2011, 03:08:00 PM
The Tengwar versions of Frodo, RA that I have are printed with the number 2R102 when the standard version is 2C102.

The pic in the database for 2C102T shows the correct collector info but all versions I have are printed 2R102. Normally there is a note in the Database explaining any discrepancies but I didn't see one for this card.

Is this correct? Or are there versions out there printed with the correct collector info.
I searched the forums but didn't see any links or discussions about 2R102

Oops, probably the wrong category to have posted this under

All Tengwar cards were considered rare, as far as I can remember. Check Ulaire Enquea, should read R as well.

Actually, there are a few that are not R's not many but these,
Gandalf, The White Wizard (T) (4C90T)
Aragorn, Wingfoot (T) (4P364T)
Sam, Great Elf Warrior (T) (10P122T)
The Mouth of Sauron, Messenger of Mordor (T) (12S73T)

I'm wondering why the picture in the database has the collector info as 2C102 for Frodo, RA

I would think that they must be out there, I think that the majority of the pic's in the database were scanned.

Probably a copy/paste photoshop by Kralik prior to uploading to the database.

I've expressed myself poorly on my first post. AT THE TIME THEY WERE RELEASED all Tengwar cards were considered "rare" as in, they were a new, exclusive exciting collector's edition stuff. That's why the cards from the first set all sport an "R" at the rarity symbol, regardless of their release status. After the first set (or maybe the second, not sure), they became commonplace enough that they MIGHT have changed their symbol to reflect the actual rarity. I don't have all of them in print to read and confirm, though, so I can't vouch for the other sets.

It must have been after the first set, as the Tower Block Tengwar cards that I show their correct rarity in relation to their original counterparts : ie Gandalf, The White Wizard  is listed on the card as 4C90 and Aragorn, Wingfoot as 4P364. The database reflects this as well.
