Title: Quillspike Killer
Post by: SomeRandomDude on September 04, 2008, 08:36:21 PM
I'm sick of infi Quillspike. So I decided to build my own version that absolutely hoses removal.  :twisted:

Secret? Glen Elendra Archmage = free 2 mana counter! And can't be removed period! Only Block removal that's a crit is Shriekmaw/Redcap, and they destroy for persist, in which case you can eat the Archmage's -1/-1 counter.

Bwahaha.

So here it is.

// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
    5 [LRW] Island
    3 [EVE] Flooded Grove
    3 [SHM] Sunken Ruins
    3 [EVE] Twilight Mire
    6 [MOR] Forest (1)
    4 [SHM] Reflecting Pool

// Creatures
    4 [EVE] Cold-Eyed Selkie
    2 [LRW] Liliana Vess
    4 [EVE] Glen Elendra Archamge
    4 [SHM] Kitchen Finks
    4 [EVE] Quillspike
    4 [SHM] Devoted Druid
    4 [LRW] Shriekmaw

// Spells
    4 [LRW] Cryptic Command
    2 [SHM] Counterbore
    4 [EVE] Dream Fracture

Enjoy!

Been testing it. First game, I got totally mana screwed. Second game, I managed to get a Quillspike and an Archmage out by turn 4, and had some Cryptics, Fractures and Shriekmaws to deal with the crits. Another game, I opened with a Druid, Quillspike and Archmage + 3 lands and a counter.

I love this deck. But I'm switching quantity of Islands and Forests around.

I'm not entirely confortable with 9 fixer lands. Other than that, I love the combo, but I'd rather play something else.
