So I followed the instructions to install the game and I seemed to get everything to work except for the card images. I ran the installer that came in the GCCG folder and it seemed to run fine but the images don't show up.
I'm wondering if the script just shut down before it finished but I can't tell because it closes immediately like it finished what it was doing. Are there other ways of installing card images or am I out of luck?
*edit*
So I just ran the card image installers for the other games METW and MTG and the installers took much longer so I'm thinking that the LOTR one is crashing before it finishes. I'm not sure how to fix this though.
-
I had the same problem-you need to install "LOTR Cards.bat".
If you can't get it up, I can upload the folder of the images and the location of the folder to copy to if you can't get it.
-
yea i tried to run the "Install LOTR Cards.bat" that came with GCCG but I don't think it finished the install. I ran the METW card image installer just to test it out and it took much longer so I think the LOTR installer isn't working for me.
If you could upload the folder of images that would be great. If its too big maybe if you have the .bat file you used that might work, I'm not sure why mine isn't working.
-
Im pretty sure you need to run LOTR Cards.bat BEFORE Lotr.bat. That fixed it for me.
So you probably need to unzip the file and redo the install again.
Otherwise, I'll be happy to upload them later today.
-
tried to install it that way and didn't work. The "Install LOTR Cards.bat" seemed like it installed the game but the not the cards. I honestly don't know what the heck it is doing. All I know is whatever way I install it the game works but I don't see the cards in the graphics folder like I do if I install the cards for METW or other games on GCCG.
If you could upload the images that would be great. Thanks for your help.
-
I'm currently uploading the images now. Its a 200mb file, and my internet fails, so it'll be a while though.
EDIT:
Estimated time remaining is 2 days ](*,)

I got the same problem, i ran LOTR card.bat and all it loads is the images for the packs. i deleted the folder and reextracted the original rar and no difference. The MTG and METW cards download just fine though. maybe a problem with the bat file?
-
Probably, as I have two computers and I ran it before and it worked on there, and it didn't work on my new PC with win7.
I'm currently uploading, will post after I'm done. 1 day remaining >.> (UL of 5kbps)

yea I think its win7. thanks again for uploading!
-
thanks for uploading doom

Enjoy.
Lotr.zip - 265.4 MB (http://uploading.com/files/c9b16cde/Lotr.zip/)

Oops-double post
-
thanks for the upload! grabbing it now.
-
YW. Oh, and you copy the folder to "graphics" in the main gccg folder.
-
Got it and it works perfectly
-
Just installed GCCG on my Windows laptop - it all just worked seemlessly - but the card images batch file was not grabbing them. I am now downloading the zipped images. Thanks for uploading them. I look forward to playing this game again, but it will be tough to start from a fairly empty collection!
-
Had the same issue today when I reinstalled GCCG. Wonder what's going on?
EDIT: where exactly do you unzip the download? I unzipped it to the LOTR folder in the graphics folder and card graphics are still not showing up in GCCG.
-
You want to delete the folder called LOTR in the graphics folder and unzip to the graphics folder, since the zip file includes a LOTR folder. You probably ended up with a LOTR inside a LOTR. I got this at first.

Just saw this message (though a bit late...!)
Even though I run the server, I don't host the images for GCCG. If the old hosting service is now defunct, you'll have to acquire them yourselves. I may look into it sometime.
-
We tried to download this card images file, but it sent it to the graphics folder in my Downloads folder in My Documents. The images are still not showing up in-game. Can someone explain exactly what I need to do?
-
You need to cut it from Downloads/Graphics and move into graphics folder in your GCCG folder - wherever it is in your computer. So that you have ...something/GCCG/graphics/Lotr and folders with all sets sit in the Lotr folder.
-
I tried to move the Lotr file from my Documents/Downloads section into the .gccg folder, but it still wouldn't work. I tried to make a graphics folder in the .gccg folder and put the Lotr file in it, but it still doesn't work. Now it gives this error: "Unable to load file './graphics/Lotr/lotr_back.jpg . I don't know what to do at this point.
-
Not to the .gccg folder (this one stores only your account details). You should put it into the folder where your GCCG installation sits (for example the Lotr.exe file). You should already have graphics folder there and you should put LotR graphics into it.
-
Well, I think I put the images in the correct file, but now when I try to log into the game, it says "Server closed - Abnormal Exit" . Any idea what this could be?
-
Sometimes an account goes corrupt. I don't know the reason and don't know anyone who understands how this works. A solution is to reinstall GCCG and start a new account. This happened to my first account as well, I started a second one, but haven't been using this much as Gemp-Lotr got good enough for me to move there :)

Thanks, I was having the same problem.
Anyway, it isn't a w7 issue, but a recent global issue, because I failed to reinstall the game on a computer I had already used to play. All W XP.
I think there's a problem with whiterose.net web hosting because the program crashes while connecting to it..
