Ooh yeah, I saw them including Thorin yesterday. Overall I like them, but well, there are some things that are not so good. Bombur is Obelix here, some beards are a bit too short (like Thorin's), Nori's hair, and Kili, which I believe didn't get much love, though in the movie he still might be cool.
I like the fact that each one of them is completely different from the others, and are very recognizable... once you learn the names.
-
Hmm... I think I expected Thorin to have a bit bigger beard.
-
I was wondering how they would portray the dwarves. This Thorin doesn't even look like a dwarf to me, especially not the Arthur Rankin Jr. version I grew up on.

Also, they don't look like classic dwarves, more like trendy RPG characters that just happen to be dwarves. I don't remember if The Hobbit describes their weaponry in detail (I think it doesn't), but seriously, dual-sword-wielding dwarf? Might as well give him a pet panther to boot.

This ^^

Completely agree with FM. A little too much "coolness" factor here.
-
In the book the dwarves were only armed with knives and stick. They weren't really valiant at all.
But as a dwarf-lover I am glad to that changed. Those dwarves look awesome! (even if Kili does look like a scruffy elf)

I can't fricking wait for this movie! Gonna be badass! Can't beleive we have to wait over a year.......

Yeah, but, where's the Dwarveness? Hand axe + shield? Two-handed battle axe? MAYBE sword + shield or a two-handed sword sometimes? Dual-wielding hand axes, sure. Swords? Not so much. Cool, but out of place.

Offhand, I see Dwarves, Hobbits, Men, an Elf, and a Klingon.
-
Right now, I don't like them. If even the women had beards, then they #$&*@! should too.
Do like the cudgels that some have.
-wtk

lol........ That's funny. I assume you are referring to Thorin in regards to the Klingon.. Now that you mention it, he definitely does have that look. A few more ridges around his face would definitely do the trick. Thanks for the laugh.. Too many of them just don't look like dwarves to me..

I think one reason they look odd to us is that they still have their "human proportions" to us. We haven't seen them in the context of "dwarfness" as short guys next to Gandalf. I think making them shorter will help us accept them a little more. However, I too agree, they are a little to 'cool' for traditional dwarves.
-
The only ones that look off to me are fili kili and thorin. All the rest look like dwarves in my opinion.
-
once you look at thorin for long enough, hes not too bad. kili is a mess. no beard. a bow and arrows. hes skinny. i mean seriously.... what is the world coming to?
-
He's the new Legolas ;)
-
as if one wasn't more than enough...
-
Next thing you know, he'll be shield-skating down the path in the cave where Bilbo falls, shooting people left and right, and swinging upward one-handed to mount an angry charging pony.
-
Now that would be awesome! Hhaahahahah.....
