Title: Swept Away, is this right
Post by: Cluanar on July 20, 2011, 04:09:22 PM
My son had swept away out with 3 exhausted wraiths. Aragorn had 3 wounds and Frodo2. I had 2 hates to kill aragorn and 4 orc bowmen. Frodo dead? Can you discard Swept Away so you can kill off Wraiths? Seems a double edge sword that strat. Impossible to kill those buggers yet they cna get frodo dead fast.

Thanks

No, I'm afraid you cannot just discard Swept Away. So Frodo would be dead unless you had any wound prevention or unless Frodo had The One Ring, Isildur's Bane (which you can put on in the archery phase).

Thank you, good point to use that ring with that build.

Probably in your son's best interest to not keep his Wraiths exhausted.

That said, I'd run The One Ring, Such a Weight to Carry and unmistakably know which maneuver phases to put the Ring on.

And maybe not keep the Wraiths exhausted the whole time!

Wraiths just don't play very well against an archery shadow, exactly for that type of situation. You just have to watch out and play very carefully.

I'd use The One Ring, The Ring of Rings. Just stay out of AtAR and RoD

. . . Just stay out of AtAR and RoD

Why?  Is there something to wraith decks that plays out badly with those cards?  (I'm trying to get a feel for different decks.)

Thing is, if you have Swept Away out, and then opponent plays bunch of archers, all the arrows will have to go to the ring-bearer, and with those rings, you can only use them as a skirmish action, so the ring-bearer is totally unprotected until then, you see?

People tried a Bilbo RB with Consorting with Wizards which is nice, but hard to pull.

Stupid, indeed.... Not that active anymore, sadly :). Friends are dropping the game like a brick. Dominion has taken over, as are newborns and other obligations. Luckily I have some spare time to play a game on GCCG now and then.
