I just had my first game using GCCG, and hadn't played LOTR for about 4 years. I was given a LOT of help by vic (who posts on here as zadetek), and we ended up having a great (but long) game. He went all the way to 9 after I almost died at 8.
I used this deck: http://www.gondorian.com/lotrtcg/deck.php?page=STD_Ranger_Dunland
He used Gondalf with Uruk Archers.
I am very impressed with GCCG. It is not as slick as the official LOTROTCG, of course, but I'm sure that once I play more games I will get better at doing all the things that LOTROTCG did automatically for me. Remembering the rules will probably help too!
If I have posted this in the wrong place, I apologise. I just wanted to make sure that my appreciation got shown somehow. Without vic's help, I do not think I could have worked out how to play a game with GCCG.
The good thing now is that I could probably lead some other n00b through it :-) Send me a PM if you are one such n00b and I will try to help if no one more experienced is around.

I'm sure he will appreciate that the autolink to his name is Verily I Come.

That is an awesome card. I collected them obsessively for a while, and I have a bunch in like, foreigns, foils, etc.
(Its cheap, useless, and looks awesome foiled).
