Title: Gemp-LotR has Fellowship and Towers block finished
Post by: MarcinS on October 23, 2011, 08:09:06 AM
Just a short information for those that might be interested.

Gemp-LotR has reached another milestone. Both Fellowship and Towers blocks are already finished and ready to play.

At the moment there is no known issues with the game or rules.

Planned next steps (in their planned order):
- storing multiple decks per player,
- King block + Reflections to finish off the Movie block,
- Sealed Leagues,
- permanent collection.

Great to hear this news. Due to lack of time I haven't been playing recently, but I hope things will get better soon. And I feel that once storing multiple decks works I will no longer need GCCG :)

Should be tonight or early next week, depending how much free time I will get.

Great news!  I'll be making some tower standard and tower block decks soon!

Orc patrol wasn't a valid option to exert for under the watching eye

Hillman Tribe (and I guess also Dunlending Ransacker) does not take a site when your only other [Dunland] minion in play is Saruman, Rabble-rouser.

Culture tokens are hard to notice. I think they should not be in each culture's colors, rather in some contrasting color so that they're easy to see when on a card.

I couldn't find anything that would prevent it from exerting to it. Will test it later on.

Fixed Hillman Tribe, it tried to spot DUNLAND Man, rather than DUNLAND minion, hence it wasn't working with Saruman, who is of "Wizard" race.
Dunlending Ransacker on the other hand asks to spot DUNLAND Man, and it (correctly) does not work with Saruman.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. My first idea was to make them of culture colors to look nice and clever. If anyone has any idea, what colors I should use for each culture token (in RGB terms), drop me a message. I'm partially color-blind so I'm probably not the best person to choose, but once I get the RGB I should be able to make the tokens quickly.

Multi-deck support is in. It looks ugly, but at least works :D.

1C119 What are they can be played even if there are no roaming minions in play. If your opponent doesn´t pay attention, this can be used to get rid of your cards in a non-legal way.

I'm afraid it's legal to play an action that doesn't do anything, as long as two conditions are met: you can pay all costs and meet all requirements, where requirements are defined in rules as spotting, having initiative, etc.

Here are the relevant rule quotations from Comprehensive Rules:
Quote
If you meet all the requirements and pay all the costs for playing a card, you may play that card even if the card will have no effect.
Quote
You must meet any requirements to play a card (or perform an action) before paying its costs. (See spot.)

If you have any further doubts, please point out any references in the rules that would suggest otherwise.

Filtering by block should be also possible for Ring-bearer, Ring and sites.

They way cards are magnified during a game is OK, no scrolling required. But in deck builder old way of magnifying is still used, the one from game table is way better.

Game table works great now, games are way faster than on GCCG but still you see what's happening. Playing is real pleasure now :)

Will add that.

Will change that.

Thanks!

I'll be adding game replays very shortly, where each player will see a list of all the games they played and will be given a link where anyone could watch the game from their perspective. The game links will be highly randomized, so there will be no way of guessing them (less than 1 in trillion chance), only the player who played the game will have it, but the player can feel free to share/post the link anywhere, and in that case anyone could watch it.

At the beginning, due to client/server communication still slightly changing from time to time, some game replays might become unavailable after a period of time, when communication protocol changes. I also don't know for how long I'm going to be storing the replays, each one taking about 250kB of disk space, but I'm sure I'll be able to handle that.

Two problems from a game I just played:
1. Nan Curunir activated when a non-mounted minion was about to take a wound and when clicked froze the game.
2. Hrethel, Rider of Rohan activated even when he is skirmishing no wounded minion (even when he wasn't skirmishing at all). Haven't tried what happens if I click him then.

Thanks for the report. Fixed both.
