heres your place to list your crowning moments of awesomeness for your favorite characters from LOTR for example:
for me, Aragorns crowning moment of awesomeness waw after telling frodo to keep the ring, he turns around and sees a hundred (roughly) urukhai, and has the nerve to salute them, before kicking their arses
Boromirs, was getting shot in the chest, falling to the ground, looking at the hobbits, then getting up again and continuing to kill uruks. twice.
YOU SHALL NOT PASS! nuff said.

Hmm lets see..
Eowyn: "I'm no man!" *STAB*
Brand and his Bow n Arrow
Fingolfin facing Morgoth and actually scratching him (see my Avy)

Fingolfin v. Morgoth was pretty sweet.
It easier to name this from the movies than the books, in most cases.
Legolas's shield trick or his mumak-slaying are both pretty awesome.
I also love the moment in the movies where Haldir gets wounded, then stares around at the bodies of his dead comrades in slow-mo. It's very dramatic. Of course, he dies afterwards, but it was still kinda cool to see an elf experience death in a way he'd never comprehended before. It was an interesting moment.
Theoden's "Red Dawn" speech in RotK and the subsequent charge of the Rohirrim (complete with musical score) still sends shivers down my spine when I see it. Heck, the Rohirrim charge in TTT does that, too.
And of course Gollum's best line in the RotK film: "Smeagol lied!"

Down From The Hills in TTT is an awesome moment. And the charge of the Rohirrim in ROTK.
The Final March of the Ents is sweet aswell. Imagine how you would feel if an army of angry trees came stomping in your back yard?
"But Master' our friend" "You dont have any friends. No one likes you" LOL
-
i liked at the battle of helms deep all the elf archers came to help. thought that was pretty cool.
-
The entire Lurtz scene.
-
When Eowyn so totally pwns the WK, oh ya. I'm surprised that Lurtzy really likes his namesake's decapitation.
And Sauron smashing mega quantities of elf dudes with a scepter.
-
My top 3 movie moments:
- the sound of the Rohirrim horns when the Witch-King is about to pwn Gandalf;
- Boromir's death scene;
- explosion of the wall in Helm's Deep.

- the sound of the Rohirrim horns when the Witch-King is about to pwn Gandalf;

Funny enough, the ride of the Rohirrim, Boromir's death, and the Helm's Deep explosion would probably all be in my Top 5 as well.
The other two would probably be Aragorn's charge at the Black Gate and Faramir's suicidal charge towards Osgiliath while Pippin sings in the background. The latter had me actually crying, I admit.

I think we can all agree the music really makes the scenes...the charge of faramir ( and the rohirrim)
then there's sam's crowning moment of awesome, when shelob is wrapping up frodo and the music gets darker and darker...than the theme as sam tells a truck sized, demi-goddess spider that sauron couldn't control to LET HIM GO YOU FILTH!
and than proceeds to kick her arse (literally) with a dagger and a shiny lantern ;)
really, howard shore is the crowning moment of awesome ;)

I love the part when Aragorn sees the beacons are lit and climbs edora's stairs running...
Aragorn: "The Beacons of Minas Tirith! The Beacons are lit!"
Aragorn: "Gondor calls for aid!"
[Théoden, in council with his men, pauses and takes stock of this news.]
Théoden: "And Rohan will answer... Muster the Rohirrim!"

I love any epic musical moment; I'm pretty into the film score; Howard Shore is THE MAN. I love:
RotK: Aragorn's speech at the march to the Black Gate.
TTT: Too many! Firstly, when Aragorn barges into the Great Hall all bloody and tattered after everyone thinks he's dead. Secondly, the battle of Helm's Deep, when Aragorn calls on the elves to fire, in elvish, of course. (movie)
FotR: When the Fellowship first sets out, right after the Council convenes at Rivendell; the movie really sets a great cinematographic experience, and a main LotR theme really comes forth in the scene. Love it!
And lastly, the opening sequence of the Battle of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men was pretty epic, with Elrond in full armor, gear, and shooting commands as if he had a quiver full of them. Epic!
(I'm referring to the movies for all these, of course)
