Just read a portion of the Official rules, but wanted to confirm that this is correct. It states that aside from the ring-bearer which is placed first b4 other starting companions each other companion in your starting fellowship is played 1 at a time not to exceed a total of 4 twilight. My question is this:
I start with my ring-bearer, we will just say Frodo, Old Bilbo's Heir, I then play Eowyn, Shieldmaiden of Rohan (simply because I need a 2 cost resistance 7 Rohan companion and she came to mind first, I then play Theodred, Second Marshal of the Mark (he costs [1] now), then I play a version of Merry. Can I now start a copy of Smeagol since Theodred has already been played by spotting Eowyn with her resistance 7 before the burden was added lowering her resistance to 6?
It's probably pretty obvious since the rules say each stating companion is played 1 at a time from your draw deck and since Theodred was played before Smeagol I would assume he stays in play, but just wanted to make sure there wasn't a revamp of the rules or something perhaps I missed.
Thanks,
NK

All cost modifications only occur as the card is being played. If their is a resistance change after that, it will be off no consequence

I wouldn't say of no consequence. Are their any cards that target companions of a certain cost? Because after smeagol was played he would be considered a 2 cost companion not a 1 cost companion

Besides, all cards that key off another card's twilight number use only the printed number. Modifications to a card's twilight number only matter when that card is being played.
