I could look for an ancient topic, but I decided to start a new one. Didi anyone follow the champions league last night? A very curious set of events. Man Utd out, Man City out, Ajax out, but that last case...well... 2 100% goals were rejected ](*,) and all of a sudden Lyon won with 7-1, and how strange, that was exactly what they needed..... I smell a conspiracy!

Football fans always do, when they don't like the net result. :P
Seriously, if you like football, find a way to cover the Brazilian Championship next year. The play level is not fantastic, since europe does take away our best, but still good, and they did something AWESOME this year, that I think they'll keep around: they found a way to make the schedule work so, in the last round, basically every team would play against their major regional rival (some small exceptions aside), which made every single last game a matter of lif and death for everyone, no matter if you needed the points or not, because your "enemy" might. Frickin' awesome.

Well, you see that footballplayers return to Brasil eventhough they might be able to get an lucrative European contract. And Neymar is still with Santos, and not in Europe, though so many clubs are willing to pay the absolute top fee to sign him. Is he really that good, or is he overhyped? And with what player can he be compared, if that is possible....
-
Well, he IS good. Find a video on youtube, from a Santos X Flamengo match that happened earier this year (the score was 5 x 4 in favor of Flamengo), the game had some AWESOME goals and Neymar showcases what he's capable of pretty well. Problem is, he's still just a kid, and the hype has gone to his head, so he' turning into one of those onoxious "I'm the best" players, and screwing up a lot, so I think he might fluke depending on the pressure, like Robinho kinda did. As for comparison, he's a lot like Ronaldinho Gaúcho (which is, incidentally, in Flamengo and also makes an appearance in said match vs. Santos) in his early days, this sassy, incredibly fast and really efficient player - on a good day. On the other days, he's just like Robinho, the speed and the skill are there, but he's just gonna hog the ball until its taken fro him, and take some crap shots at the middle of the goal, which any keeper can save.

Its quite sad how little coverage football gets here in Canada. It was after the figure skating in the sports section in my newspaper the other day.
-
Figure skating a sport? It is a circusact....a good one, but it is not a sport imho.

I was watching all the games online wednesday night and I thought that result was unbelievable! What a turnaround, proper fantastic entertainment. I didnt suspect foul play though, maybe you smell a conspiracy because it was a dutch team Wubs? :D

Ajax: 2 goals rejected because of supposed offside
Lyon: 2 goals acknowledged but they were offside
I think this was a setup by both France and Portugal. France because they loath the drugspolicy in the Netherlands and Sarkozy is losing influence in Europe. He is trying to seize power on the terrain that really matters: football. It is clear that UEFA has stated nothing suspicious happened, since Platini is the chairman of UEFA and he is French....
Portugal is trying to disrupt our preparation on Euro 2012...They want to make clear that they are supported by powerful men and that they are capable of pulling strings....
So yeah, this is obvious, don't you think?
-
No. Lol.
-
Well, Heije, I think you'll be able to witness Neymar firsthand after all (they ARE showing the World Championship match there next sunday, right?)
-
I'll have to see whether they will. If they do, I'll try to catch him and I'll let you know
-
If they won't, I'm sure you can find a livestream somewhere on the web.
-
Wow.... That was an incredible game by Barca... (Not to mention they started 7 center mids, Pique and Messi are both a 1/2)
-
Yeah it was obvious.....They are so good, it is almost boring to watch
-
I don't know if teams that are going down in history are ever boring to watch. Seriously, they make it seem so... effortless. It's a thing of beauty.
