Title: a couple of questions that cropped up
Post by: gashad on March 02, 2012, 05:34:13 AM
Hi, played a few games yesterday and a few issues cropped up.

Firstly if a companion assigned to a skirmish dies before his skirmish is started(for instance from threat wounds caused by a death in another skirmish) does the free people player then need to reassign the minion that companion was skirmishing?

Secondly also does swept away adds threats before sites like dagorlad add threats(basically is"when the fellowship moves" before "when the fellowship moves to this site")

1) If either side of a skirmish is removed before the skirmish begins, the other side simply becomes unassigned. No one won or lost a skirmish, because the skirmish never began.

2) Triggers from movement go in the following order: Move From, Move, Move to. So when you move to City Gates, Swept Away will add its threat before City Gates does. And when you move from City Gates, it will remove 3 threats before Swept Away adds one.

Thanks for the answers

for 1) does the free people player have to reasign the minion or does the minion reach the regroup phase without fighting a skirmish?

Also remembered another question-the card elessar's edict seems to be somewhat awkwardly phrased. Is the action to exhaust a wraith part of the cost-and therefore required or part of the effect and therefore voluntary?
-edit :realised that there had been a clarification on this card-a weird one as spotting an exausted wraith isn't mentioned at all in the card text but regardless that seems to clear things up.

Minions can be assigned only during assignment phase. So if a minion becomes unassigned during skirmish phase, it cannot be assigned again (unless it was a regular skirmish and minion is fierce, then it is assigned as usual during fierce assignment phase).

Elessar's Edict clarification points out the fact that exhaust means "exert as many times as possible", even if 0 is most possible. So you can exhaust an exhausted character (even though you can't exert such character).

ok-thanks, even though the clarification seems to imply that you can't exaust an exhausted minion-as the part about spotting an exhausted wraith would be pointless if you could exhaust an already exhausted wraith(which you evidently can)...,, oh well anyway I guess that clears that up.

The clarification gives you two options: exhaust a Wraith, or spot a Wraith that is already exhausted. Either way, at least one Wraith will be exhausted when all is said and done.
