Hi there,
during the discussion about the errata-thing came a topic up which i find very important for our community.
It is "How do we get new players?".
So are there any ideas out there how we could get them?
At first we should create a group on facebook where everyone of us joins and everyone could share it requesting their facebook-friends to share it. Through that we could spread it some more and hopefully get some new players.
This could be done in any other social community as well.

Sounds like a great idea!
Additionally, the first few minutes after a new player logs onto Gemp-Lotr can be the most important as to whether they want to consider staying. If they feel overwhelmed, or are not welcomed with open arms, especially if they are shy, they may just give up right away. So if there was a way (some indicator next to their name perhaps) that we could tell if someone in the Main Lobby had never played a game on Gemp-Lotr before, the rest of us could make sure that new player feels welcomed (e.g. offers to help them with navigating the site, or invites them to a friendly game, etc.) right off the bat. Things like that can go a long way.

Also, a quickstart guide for people who don't want to delve into the rulebooks right away as well, and maybe precondecks with easy access.

Starter decks? ;)

Kralik or MarcinS (maker of Gemp?) or someone else who is meaningful should contact info@decktech.net to get the email list of these 2428 (former) players. http://www.decktech.net/lotr/main/directory.php
Then we could just send an email to each of them to tell them that LOTR still exists online and that it is playable for free.

Oh, i didn't know about that site yet. Sounds like a great start!

+1 for contacting decktech and making a new deck-base!
posting on all lotr fan forums is another idea, i cannot imagine a better place where we could target new players...

tell your friends. i take my laptop to our local games store and play on gemp lotr, and the magic the gatheirng players are now interested

I would be glad to play is you played standard.

Someone 'Official' make a Facebook Group and I can start directing friends who used to play to that Group. I made an Atlanta based group a long time ago, but it was before the online game came out and pretty much never got off the ground. Coordinating on Facebook would be helpful to bring in players who miss the game...

I started to make advertisement on german fansites about LOTR/fantasy. Hopefully some interested guys and girls try it out and will become new players.

Gemp just went trough former Croatian LOTR tcg community like a wildfire ;D, which resulted in joining over 20 members, 10 of those active on daily basis. Hopefully we will get more in next few weeks.

The owner is here on Gemp. His username is Dredlox. There is also a topic about Gemp on the Decktech buzz boards.

That's nice, but is a topic good enough? I guess that most former LOTR players don't go on Decktech anymore. Sending an email to all of them would be better.

Someone can make a Youtube video on how to start using Gemp? Starting with registering, then creating a deck, joining/creating table, and finally playing a simple game, explaining how to zoom on cards, etc?

This is actually the best idea I've seen in a while. If I weren't so embroiled in getting 2E off the ground, I'd probably do something like this.
