Hi, just a quick check-Would it be a correct interpretation that Aragorn with Ranger's sword BoA does not get the 2+ bonus from skirmishing an Uruk-hai if he is fighting troop of Uruk-hai as it comes from a weapon?
Also if a player with zero burdens and four cards in hand plays paths can he then remove the burden he adds with a light in his mind?
-
You are correct on the first count; just because the +2 bonus damage isn't on the side doesn't change the fact that it's coming from a hand weapon, and thus cancelled out.
On the second, I don't think light in his mind would have an effect in that situation; I believe actions would look like this:
-4 cards in hand
-play PATHS from hand, 3 cards in hand
-lost initiative, light in his mind immediately triggers the moment PATHS is out of your hand
-PATHS then adds a burden and is discarded
[EDIT:] See below for actual handling of the PATHS scenario.
-
I think ALiHM can remove the burden from PATHS. Going by the "playing a card" summary, paying costs (adding a burden) happens at step 3, and responding to the loss of initiative happens at step 5.
-
where are you finding that summary? tried searching the comprehensive guide, couldn't find it.

It's in the 8/13/07 CRD (stickied). It speaks of the void. :o

aha. I knew there was a reason we held on to the CRD's. so much for the "comprehensive" guide.
That is interesting. You are correct, it seems that based on that order, you would pay the cost of PATHS (adding a burden), then react to the initiative loss. I suppose that makes sense on a certain level, but heck if it isn't awkward.

The easiest way, is to open Gemp-LotR and try it... it does work. ;)
