But why do we need 2 places to play? We also got GccG, which also looks nicer.....

At Gemp rules are enforced automatically, which makes playing way faster and comfortable. Gemp also has leagues implemented with rankings done by the site itself. I think most players have moved there from GCCG, which I have to admit looks nicer, but I don't see any other area where it's better.
