Title: New Format Proposal
Post by: sgtdraino on August 18, 2012, 07:39:20 AM
I had an idea for a new format, I'd be interested to hear your input on it. I don't even have a name for it yet. The basic concept is simple, and centered on the site path:

Sites 1-3 = Fellowship Block sites (You must use numbered 1-3 sites from Fellowship block)
Sites 4-6 = Towers Block sites (You must use numbered 4-6 sites from Towers block)
Sites 7-9 = King Block sites (You must use numbered 7-9 sites from King block)

The idea is to really encompass the feel of traveling from the Shire, all the way to Mordor and Mount Doom. Card pool would most likely be Expanded, since that's the pool I like best. :) It also allows some of the allies to be more interesting again.

Thoughts? Name ideas?

It seems like a good idea granted the sites are in good order. For example we could be in rivendell(site 3) and then we are in Rohan next site. To much of a jump. Now if we could pick either Fellowship, Towers, or King sites for a whole game would be cool and not be stuck with just King sites. And Fellowship sites are my favorite to use. So I play fellowship format with people a lot.

The Next French Nationals (10/27-28/2012 in Paris) will be played in Multipath : you can play all your sites from one block (FOTR, TTT, ROTK).
Here is the definition of the format :

There used to be rules for a 27 site game floating around, if I recall correctly, there were extra sanctuaries and you were allowed to reshuffle your deck 2-3 times.

lol. That's hilarious. Could work I suppose, but once you start reshuffling your deck, MAN you're going to have a much higher percentage of shadow cards in your hand!

ETA: I suppose the extra sanctuaries would be the regular sanctuary sites, since those sites were marked differently back when we had numbered sites.
