We have a disagreement within my playgroup. Can Boromir with Horn of Boromir exert twice (or three times, if you have The Saga of Elendil) during a single maneuver phase to make an ally strength +6 (or +9)? Some say, yes, it's cumulative, some say it's not cumulative; the ally is already strength +3 and participating, exerting Boromir again would do nothing. Thoughts, please.

Yes you can only do it to one ally because you can only spot that ally once.

I'm saying I exert Boromir two times, and both times spot the same ally to give the ally a total of strength +6. There is no limit written on the card, nor is there a rule against spotting the same thing for separate actions, right? With Trust Me as You Once Did, if you can only spot two Gandalf signets, you can pump for two, then spot the same signet again for another +1, as long as you don't pass +3 total. Is this somehow different?

I disagree. Just because the ally is now participating in archery fire and skirmishes, doesn't mean you can no longer spot the ally. Horn is a maneuver action, so long as you can pay the cost it will have its affect each time you pay that cost. The result is that each time you exert Boromir for the same ally, that ally's strength would go up 3 each time.
I was sad to see that card Xed. It was good, but I didn't think it was THAT good.

I'm thinking I agree with this side. I can't find anything saying you can't do it.

It's funny because people always say it'd be unfair with Treebeard, Oldest Living Thing or Treebeard, Earthborn, but the point is moot, because they both have Unhasty. Tom Bombadil, on the other hand, is another story (though I'm sure it could have been written differently, if Horn hadn't been banned). Decipher said, "There is no cultural enforcement on the special ability of this card. This permanent effectively circumvents the rule of 9 by allowing non-companions to skirmish." I will say that the two Horn decks I made for Fellowship Block are very unpleasant to play against.
-
Yes, you can. There would be a limit on it if you couldn't, like " Trust me as you once did". It also doesn't say "At the start of the maneuver phase" so you can use it as many times as you like. Thats why it was X'ed. Too good

Alright. Everyone I played lotr with before kept telling me that. This is awesome now.

L2P Zurcamos. All you have to do is read the card. Doesn't matter what the last action was as long as you can still spot that ally. The card does what it says every time you exert Boromir regardless if that ally can already participate in archery and skirmishes by either being at their own home site or from his horn. Also, FYI, the horn of boromir is in the x-list so why are you even posting about that card anyway?

Some people play Fellowship block or open

Like most groups, Id say 90% just dgaf about ''Blocks''? Play what you want and make your own rules, the company doesnt even exist anymore so who cares

Thanks to everyone who was helpful. I think the topic has been sufficiently answered. I will try not to go back to my playgroup with an "I hate to say I told you so..." ;)
You are the only person here who believes what you do.
I was wrong, Galdor. There are at least two of you.

This comment was completely off-topic in every single way, but go ahead and post a poll on the site, if you want. Not only is the opposite true of your numbers, they'd still be off. I guarantee you less than 10% of this site would say they "dgaf about blocks." The only reason I don't dare say 1% is because of new players.

Which is why Frenzy of Arrows is the best Shadow card available for everyone. Oh, wait... ;)

Hahaha ^

I fail to see why the frenzy of arrows post is funny, but then again I never played shadows or beyond. I'm guessing you are reffering to the errata? The card's text seems pretty clear. Still, posting something from set 18 doesn't really illusrate your point anyway since it's well known that sets printed around that time were barely play tested, if at all lol.

People who act as jerks to other forumers in a thread and get made fun of by someone more lighthearted using their very same post often have the problem of not understanding why the post was funny. Great thing it's not the case here. Oh wait...
-
All I basically said was that set 18 wasn't playtested so no wonder you found a broken card in it haha. "People who act as jerks to other forumers" <-- its actually called trolling and its just what me and Zurcamos do to eachother for fun around here. Take it serious much? Here, take all my fourm gold! add more =s to you digital 8======D :P

It's also what we're supposed to keep in check, in case people do it to others who are not as lighthearted and might leave the site because of something like this, which is why every now and then I take a jab at someone who's stepping over the line a bit, although if at all possible I try to slip it in a joke so it does not sound so bad for everyone else reading.
PS: As for "=s", you're free to keep them for yourself, I'm from Brazil after all, it's not like I need it anyway. ;)
