Title: Re: Going All the Way: The Final Attempt at my Star Wars/LotR Crossover Project.

So yeah, what I'm going for here is a complete game, with a final card pool similar to the one given to us in Lord of the Rings. I've already written every cardlist for all 20 base sets, expansions, and special boutique packages, and the total card pool comes out at 3411 cards. I don't know the total for Lord of the Rings but it's right there in the ball park. I've spent the last month toiling away on 'upgrading' my old project (seen here) (http://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php/topic,7146.0.html), and although I managed to complete a few sets then, that was when I had settled for smaller sets and easier mechanics.

This time it's real, men. This is the culmination of 10 years of design, from when I was grounded as a freshman in high school just whiling away the hours in my room with a notebook and a few dozen pencils. I think my body is ready for this, and my brain is excited to finally do this #$&*@! some justice. I've created each set to closely-mirror the order of production done for LotR, so we can more easily appreciate each new batch of cards:

-> The first new card type comes in with the first expansion.
-> Reflections has Rares, Plus Rares, and alternate Apprentices.
-> Set 10 will have ridiculous power creep issues.
-> Set 11 reorganizes most of the minions, creating two new cultures and streamlining everything.
-> Set 13 is all about the dynasty of the Skywalker family. It also introduces a new card type (Allies, not followers, which is a reverse of LotR!)
-> Sets 14, 16, and 18 aren't really sets (just like Expanded Middle-earth and the Wraith Collection weren't), but supplemental mini-sets.
-> Set 19 is a random mish-mash of crap (haha not really... mine is awesome!).

There are a million other little nods to LotR I've inserted into each set that I'll highlight as we get there.

Tomorrow after work I'll upload all of the cardlists (off-site somewhere, to keep this thread from being choked to death with Amazon-long posts), and from there I'll begin from set number one, Star Wars. I'm also going to cook up a butt-ton of new keywords, loaded and unloaded, to help give each new block an added punch of flavor, but for this I'd sorely appreciate some help. So throw some ideas at me that seem to fit into the Star Wars theme!

And please pray for me, because this is going to be a mountain of work the likes of which I've never attempted.

I posted all of the set cardlists to the old thread and linked to them above. Peruse at your leisure!

Now to start. When I have some free time (this weekend), I'll go over again the cultural identities present in the first set, Star Wars, and then I'll repost the cards I've already written up, while sprinkling in the 70+ new cards.

Tonight though, since I'm already balls-tired from a long, achy day, I want to throw out the list of keywords I've developed. These won't all appear in the first set (or even the first block). If you have an idea for something that isn't here, please say so!

Unloaded Keywords
Asteroid, Black Sun, Bounty, Commando, Dark Jedi, Destined, Droid, Dueling, Force-skill, Hunter, Industry, Knight, Leader, Lightsaber, Maneuver, Palace, Pilot, Port, Scout, Station, Swamp, Torture, Tundra, Vacuum, Vehicle, Walker, Weather

Old Loaded Keywords
Aid -, Apprentice (replaces Ring-bearer), Damage +X, Fierce, Lurker, Ranged (replaces Archer)

New Loaded Keywords
Dominate (I have no idea what this will do as of yet, but it will be introduced sometime in Jedi Block and will be for Big Baddies)
Enclosed (This will be for a few vehicle possessions borne by characters, like an AT-AT borne by General Veers, that will protect its bearer from ranged fire)
Hologram (This will show up on followers, basically stating that they aren't a character. In this game, followers are characters!)
Savage (This will be for particularly-nasty creatures, and will be some kind of drawback meant to curtail their large strength values)
Smuggle X (I haven't worked out the fine-wording yet, but this will be to assist in cycling. I dunno - the idea is still pretty nebulous in my mind and I can't explain it any better than very abstractly.)
Strategist (I have zero idea what this will do, but it's for smart characters such as Thrawn, Palpatine, Crix, and maybe even Leia once. Suggestions are welcome!)
Wild X (Shows up on sites, allowing players to opt to draw cards from their Creature Deck instead of playing their shadow cards)

I'm still in need of three or four more good loaded keywords to build set mechanics around. A few of them need to be for characters (maybe I can make Commando or Scout into loaded keywords...). Another loaded keyword needs to be for conditions. Oooh and it'd be sweet to have one for starships! So if you have any bright ideas, let me know!

Stay tuned! The real fun will soon be here!

Here are a couple suggestions:

Politics - Something that allows a certain bit of deck manipulation, like maybe putting cards on the top or bottom of your deck.

Force X - Characters with the Force keyword are strength +X when battling [skirmishing] non-Force characters.

Oh, wow. The Hunter keyword? I thought it was one of the most bland, unflavorful mechanics in the game, I'm not sure I'd reproduce it. Politics looks like fun. However, Force is usually seem in the movies as a way to manipulate objects (possessions/artifacts) and minds (companions, allies and minions), while politics is more about information, so I'd probably consider using your idea of Politics as Force (manipulating decks and discard piles) and maybe employ Politics for hands and discarding/drawing (informationg and card advantage).
