ok, can someone tell me why anyone would use the troll's keyword? the way i figure it, you play keyward for 3 and he only buys you a -2 for the troll. well thats just as good as playing any 1 cost goblin. but if you play the runner, you actually get an extra twilight, so the goblin runner makes a better keyword than the keyward does!
-
he has 3 vitality
-
Yep. Archery sponge. Plus, he's stronger than the Goblin Runner, so he might actually win a skirmish and get stacked on Goblin Swarms. And there are some decks that use Dark Places too.
-
i find that if i have a cave troll out i don't need extra archery sponge. but i guess i can see the point.
-
Well there are some times when you don't want the troll taking a bunch of arrows, like if Bow of the Galadhrim is out or you know FP is holding PATHS.
-
He combos well with moria beat down centering on moria axe rather than goblin scimitar
-
ah, i never play it that way. always scimitar and a bunch of little goblins. i've also been throwing in an ulaire nelya RWIT for a fun splash. the damage +1 fierce is fun when your opponent doesn't think they have to watch out for burdens. had good success with it twice!
-
I use 1 copy of it in my Moria swarm deck, just in case I'm playing against heavy archery.
-
i guess that makes sense. archery sure is a female dog.
-
There is also the [Moria] card that exerts a goblin to draw cards (Threat of the Unknown ?), even in a swarm deck, if you're packing the Cave Troll OR not, he's still a good minion (plus, my old Troll deck used a couple Moria Axes alongside Scimitars, since I always had bodies to carry the extra weapons anyway, and he makes a good target for those, which would still gain me twilight with enough Armories out.
-
huh. i never run swarm that way, i might have to try it sometime.
-
I prefer Goblin Spear to the Axe, since I can put it on Cave Troll or the Balrog if desired ^_^
