Title: Southron Assassin
Post by: NappyKorn on December 21, 2012, 02:06:05 PM
Been awhile since I been interested in building a deck for this game so figured Id log into Gemp and see what I could come upi with. I joined the Movie sealed league and upon opening the packs Southron Assassin was one of the rares. I thought to myself I wonder if its at all possible to get a win with a deck with this guy being the main focus or one of the focuses of the deck. I havent seen this guy in action, if ever. Any ideas of a deck design on how to use this guy? I thought about adding him to my southron mounts deck, but wasnt sure if that would prove good or not. Are there any beast Southron fighting tactics out there that could help this guy wound an unprotected ring-bearer several times in a single site? I would probably find some way to make them fierce (and mounts came to mind first). Seems to me this guy could cause some serious damage if in the right deck. Anyway any thoughts would be great or if its been tried before and failed that info would be appreciated as well.

Here is a link to the Southron Mounts deck I mentioned above: http://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php/topic,7658.0.html

If this would be a viable idea to add him to this deck let me know what you think and perhaps how many of him to add and maybe what to replace to get him in the deck.

I have tried to make decks with him before but it has never worked for me. I'm also looking forward to see what others can make with it.

one of the problems with a deck such as this is that, first, it requires winning skirmishes with the assassin in play, and then, when that finally does happen, the ringbearer can absorb wounds as burdens no matter what ring hes wearing, because it will be during the skirmish phase.

plus, you only get 1 wound per win. all in all, i doubt that you can make a killer deck around it, but you might be able to use it as a side strategy.

Also, compared to a big Witch-King with a Fell Beast (cost 8 strength 16), an Assassin on a Mumak (cost 6 strength 12) is much less likely to win skirmishes.

It would be better if Southron Assassin was a Lurker.
