Title: Minions discarding FP (needs a Shadow)
Post by: Invincible on March 14, 2013, 10:45:52 AM
This is a deck I wanted to try ever since I saw The Palantir of Orthanc, RSS. The idea is to discard every minion your FP cannot beat/kill before the skirmish phase and to move fast, skipping sanctuaries if you need.

Ring-Bearer:
Faramir, BoQ
The one ring, ror

Starting Fellowship:
Mablung, SoG
Aragorn, Strider
Pippin, WobaS
Madril, DoO

Freepeople:
Gandalf, TGP x4
Palantir of Orthanc, RSS x3
Aragorn's bow, ranger's longbow x2
Faramir's bow x2
Home and hearth x3
Drawing his eyes x4
a new light x4
What are they x4
Last throw x2

total 32 cards.

Now what I would need is a shadow that can pair well with it, I need something that cycles well and that can easily stop my opponent from double moving. Let me know what you think.

Question: where are the ithilien blades?

Why would I need them when most of the minions are discarded in the fellowship phase with the palantir, drawing his eye and a new light? Also I don't want to rely on a possession that needs 2 exerts and can be discarded when nothing can prevent an event like what are they?

I' m pretty sure the FP is allright like this, basicaly I need an idea for the Shadow.

I like the idea of the fp... Not sure how well this will work vs corruption, if you plan to use rss a ton.
As for the shadow, it all depends on what strategy you're going for.

I tried it a few times on gemp and had an easy time against enquea toto because

a) I can discard it easily and

b) home and hearth takes care of the burdens easily

As fo other decks, I must say I don't face many minions. For example, if someone plays grima or a small minion like that, I return him with a new light and discard the bigger minion and when he manage to play something strong, aragorn's bow / what are they is the way to go. The onl;y real threat I face was demon of might because of his gametext, but it was on site 9 so it was not enough.

I'm currently undeafeated with the deck, although I only played it 4 times.
