Title: Game of Thrones Deck
Post by: sgtdraino on June 27, 2013, 10:40:54 AM
Here's a deck I've been working on for the past couple of days. I thought it would be amusing to make a "Game of Thrones" deck, which starts Ned Stark (Boromir), and includes all four of the different Throne artifacts in LOTR TCG. I feel like it's not quite perfect yet, so any advice is appreciated. Here it is:

Game of Thrones

Starting Fellowship:
Ring-bearer: Ned Stark, Bearer of Council
Ring: The One Ring, The Ring of Doom
1x Faramir, Captain of Ithilien
1x Théoden, King of the Golden Hall
1x Smeagol, Poor Creature

Adventure deck:
Crags of Emyn Muil
Cavern Entrance
Neekerbreekers' Bog
Steward's Tomb
Mithlond
Dammed Gate-stream
The Prancing Pony
Mount Doom
Sirannon Ruins

Free Peoples Draw Deck:
1x Gandalf, Returned
1x Grimbeorn, Beorning Chieftain
1x Madril, Defender of Osgiliath
1x Gamling, Defender of the Hornburg
2x Pippin, Wearer of Black and Silver
1x Leowyn
1x Beorning Axe
1x Shadowfax, Greatest of the Mearas
1x Armor
1x Flaming Brand
3x Ithilien Blade
3x Ranger's Cloak
1x Coif
1x Erkenbrand's Horn
3x Throne of Minas Tirith
1x Throne of the Golden Hall
3x A Wizard Is Never Late
1x Deep in Thought
2x On Your Doorstep
3x Something Slimy
3x Simbelmyne
1x Don't Look at Them
1x Follow Smeagol
1x Gladden Homestead
1x Houses of Healing
1x Noble Leaders
1x Stewards' Legacy
1x The Faithful Stone
1x Alatar, Final Envoy
1x Pallando, Far-travelling One
1x Deagol, Fateful Finder
1x Rohan Stable Master
1x Rohirrim Doorwarden

Shadow Draw Deck:
1x Gollum, Threatening Guide
4x Saruman, Black Traitor
1x Goblin Runner
1x The Balrog, Demon of Might
4x Sauron, The Lord of the Rings
1x Bill Ferny, Swarthy Sneering Fellow
4x Morgul Squealer
1x The Witch-king, Morgul King
1x Úlairë Cantëa, Faster Than Winds
2x Úlairë Enquëa, Lieutenant of Morgul
1x Úlairë Enquëa, Sixth of the Nine Riders
2x Úlairë Lemenya, Eternally Threatening
2x Úlairë Nelya, Third of the Nine Riders
2x Úlairë Nertëa, Dark Horseman
4x Ships of Great Draught
2x Saruman's Staff, Wizard's Device
3x Throne of Isengard
2x Throne of the Dark Lord
4x Captured by the Ring
2x Saruman's Power
4x Evil-smelling Fens
2x Pallando Deceived

The FP side is basically a modified Madril deck. Bid low (or 0) because Boromir's resistance ain't much. Faramir helps protect from Enquea, Smeagol is there for cycling and using Something Slimy to get conditions out asap. Theoden mostly just starts so that I can play Throne of the Golden Hall, if I draw it. Only one in there, since it is the Throne least useful to the strategy. Theoden is also there for Simbelmyne, which gets me Gamling pretty quick, so I can start pulling possessions and followers. It would probably make more tactical sense to start Gamling and not even use Theoden, but without two Rohan guys, I can't play Throne of the Golden Hall... and using all four Thrones is part of the deck theme. So, it's either start Theoden and hope for the best, or start Gamling and replace Theoden with a better Rohan guy, and just hope that I draw that other guy so that I can play the throne. Really, that might be the better option, since Throne of the Golden Hall isn't that important to get out. Throne of Minas Tirith is more important, with its possession discarding and token reinforcing.

The Shadow side is a hodgepodge of Nazgul, Sauron, and Gollum. The idea is to get Throne of Isengard out and bother people with Wizards, add a bunch of threats with the Nazgul to play Sauron and Throne of the Dark Lord, and then use Gollum and Fens to rinse and repeat.
