Title: beginner cd rom
Post by: swarmingUwithGoblins on September 28, 2008, 05:02:23 PM
Hey guys. I got a ton of these from some a collection i bought. I loaded it up and it was pretty cool and there was supposed to be a section where i could play vs the computer. But it never shows up for me. Anyone else have this cd and get it to work? Would be nice to play while im at the airport since i travel quite a bit.

Just do SdA. Much cooler. And Hamachi = don't need port forwarding.

Try the advance tutorial.  It will allow you to play against the computer.

I found and installed the CD last night. It came with a very out of date Deck Builder with many disabled features that modulate to the Online version of the game which is no more. I promptly uninstalled that. The tutorial however is functional letting you choose either a basic or advanced gameplay using 1 of 2 fixed decks against the computer. I played a few times last night. It also uses the same Worlds Apart game engine that the Online version was based upon.

No, both the tutorial and the deck builder are listed on the main splash screen (presuming autoplay works).

Just for clarification, you can still play online there, you just can't buy anymore cards.  There's a game available probably 50% of the time that I log in.

I was told that they are only going to continue that for so much longer...

Worlds Apart said they would keep the server running for 3 years after the announcement.  I think that means another year and a half.  But it is going to go away, and it isn't very popular anymore.  Probably just better to get used to SDA at this point.  Unfortunate though; I really like the layout of the Worlds Apart game.
