So, the card Take Up the Bow says the companions lose archer. Is that for the whole game or just the turn?
-
My gut tells me that it would be for the remainder of THAT particular archery phase. The reason I think it specifies also that you cannot gain archer, would prevent cards like that Orophin companion from just gaining archer again after losing it.
I kind of wondered why the card didn't just go the Greenleaf/Gorn's Bow approach and make them "not add to the fellowship archery total", but doing it this way is slightly different as it would prevent you from further using cards like Double Shot, etc.
I guess it is possible that it makes you lose it for the game, but I don't think so....Unless you were at site 9, that's a pretty substantial cost to just discard 1 minion.
Maybe bib could back this up as well :)

In general, activated abilities last until the end of the phase in which they're played unless they specify otherwise, so the card's effect will last until the end of the archery phase, in the save way that Swordarm of the White Tower pumps the [gondor] man until the end of the skirmish phase in which it is played, but does not continue to pump him in later skirmishes.

Confirmed. The archers lose the archer keyword for the remainder of the phase, but gain it back once the next phase starts.

Thank you for the clarification.

I think it is worded as such to prevent you from using multiple copies per turn (assuming you have 5 or fewer archers). If it just stopped them from adding to the archery total, 4 of these are 4 discarded minions :)

That makes sense, Thanks everyone.
