Title: Rumil, Silvan Elf
Post by: Tripp on May 21, 2015, 07:34:49 PM
Hello I am now just coming back to the game with a few friends of mine. Have not played since shadows expansion set came out, so i missed a lot of new cards and rules.

At the moment i am in the process of updating my elven archery deck and had a question about Rumil, Silvan Elf (17S12) http://lotrtcgwiki.com/wiki/lotr17012 (http://lotrtcgwiki.com/wiki/lotr17012)

Game Text: Hunter 1 (While skirmishing a non-hunter character, this character is strength +1.) While you can spot a wounded minion, Rumil is strength +1 and gains archer. Archery: Exert another [Elven] hunter and add a threat to wound a minion.

The question i had is if i started out with Rumil and a Archer Legolas, during the archery phase if Legolas wounds minion will that activate Rumil and add 1 to the minnion total or would that need to be counted prior?

Thanks!, and i hope this has not been asked before.

The way the archery phase works is, both players take turns performing archery special abilities or archery events. Once both players pass, the archery totals are added up and each player assigns the appropriate number of wounds.

As long as the minion has a wound when the time comes to calculate archery totals, Rumil's text will kick in.

For example: you exert Legolas Greenleaf using his special ability to wound a minion (this is an archery special ability, so it is done before calculating archery totals).  Rumil sees a wounded minion, and his strength bonus/archer kick in.  (If you have another Elven hunter, you could just use Rumil's ability to do this.)

On the other hand, if you do not use Greenleaf's special ability and instead wait until the archey totals are calculated, then Rumil does not see any wounded minions, so your archery total is only 1.  The opponent places one wound on a minion, and Rumil's ability kicks in too late to contribute to the archery total (but he still gets the strength bonus and is an archer until the wounded minion leaves play).
