Title: Misprinted cards and their possibilities
Post by: Pepin The Breve on October 07, 2008, 06:55:05 AM
Hey people, i don´t know if i should post this here (or bag's end instead) but i will give a shot anyway.

I just noticed that my Aragorn, Defender of Free Peoples (6R50) (Aragorn, Defnsor de las Gentes Libres in fact...) have some print error that makes him totaly overpower in a [Rohan]. His text is all the same except that instead of remove tokens to wound minions at the regroup he does this at skirmish!

I like to ask you if ever notice this before in other copy of him or if i have a very rare card at hand  ;)

Even if all copies of Aragorn, Defensor de las Gentes Libres had that text (and I would assume they do), it wouldn't matter - at least not at a tournament. Tournament guidelines specify that all cards work as worded on English versions. In fact, if your opponent (at a US tournament) wanted to be a prick, he could make you produce an English copy to ensure no confusion; if you could not do so, you would not be allowed to play that card.

Sucks, but those are the guidelines. Many top-level players got hit with that one early on when playing with their Chinese Goblin Armories or German Witch-king Lord of Angmar. It should be an easy one to enforce, but some judges will have a text copy of all cards just for these situations, making it a difficult issue.

They probably all do say that. My suggestion? Play with your friends in casual play, and don't let them know the real text. ;)

I never tought using his in a tournament and even at casual play without clarifying his text cause that would be equal to cheating and that´s something i´m not used to do  [-X.

I post this threat more to know if that was an error of all spanish versions (which, like you, i think that´s the case too) and maybe hoping to some funny comments on it (like NB, assuming that he is really joking  :) ). Anyway i apreciate all clarifications.

Maybe we can move this topic to Bag's End and change the title to: "Misprinted cards and they possibilities" i say that would be a funny topic and maybe people even start to post decklist with misprinted cards  (i´m sure NB can post some broken deck with this Gorn...hehehe ;))

I believe you and I Pep were talking about Frenzy of Arrows, that was a misprint.

Both the original and the errata  #-o

There aren't any [Orc] archers.

Yes, Lurtzy get to the point. And that seems that don´t exist any means to make an  [Orc] minion archer... So it´s #$&*@! broken before errata and unusable after  #-o

After Errata you basically plays Gothmog + Isengard Underling + Saruman, SoS + Frenzy of Arrows to kill evertything (if you don´t have pool just play Underlings and the events...).

Question is, did Decipher know there weren't any [Orc] archers (or a means of making one)? I think the answer would amuse me either way.

If only LOTRTCG players could organize themselves sort of like SWCCG's PC, we could have virtual cards, therefore [orc] archers and new versions of supid cards like frenzy of arrows.

So what should the misprint on Frenzy of Arrows be corrected to?

Well I personally think it should be:

[3]Frenzy of Arrows [Orc]
Event-Archery
Exert an [Orc] to add 1 to the minion archery total for each follower attached to companions.

Possibly exert an archer if any of those are made...

I think the hole thing with Frenzy of Arrows and Whisper in the Dark is that both should specify FP followers ...

Or even better, follower Saruman should have never been released ... cause he's the only reason both cards along with Isengard Ruined make a stupid combo.

Just X-list the Saruman follower in all formats.

Heh. Pre CRD decks were looking like this.

4x Frenzy
4x Underlings
4x Lackey
4x Whispers
3x Saruman
3x Black Land Chieftain
4x Smith
4x Hordes
4x Unforgiving Depths

= WTH?!?!

And now we enter the manuever phase, where we see 2 companions bite the dust. Moving onto the archery, another half dozen companions hit the dead pile, and he sits. Bummer.

Next turn, the Goblin Hordes helps the underlings and cheiftain back out of the discard, your opponent begins to cry...

Yeah. That was my IRL deck. :D
