Title: FotR Physical Sealed Event in DC Metro area
Post by: dmaz on March 16, 2019, 01:16:40 PM
Hi all!

I have been collecting sealed material for a while now, and have enough RotEL packs to host an actual sealed event with physical cards!

I have about a booster boxes worth of FotR, MoM and RotEL packs and enough FotR and Mom starters to have a good event. I'm also looking at accumulating some RotEL starters for the event, if interest increases enough. Entry fee would be as low as I could keep it, and probably not quite represent what I actually paid for the cards altogether. Just want to get the community together.

Firstly, I'd like to see how many people could actually make it to the event. I'm looking at hosting in either NYC or Boston, but am open to suggestions in the New England area.

Secondly, I'd like to get input from those attending on format. I could get draft packs to add, and we do a draft and pass type of tournament...or we could go full on GEMP league but with physical cards and have a Series with starter decks for each.

Looking forward to holding this event! Hope we can bring together a good contingent of the community!

All the best,

dmaz

Hey man, I'm definitely interested. Like I mentioned the other day, I grew up in NYC but moved to the Midwest recently. However, I go back to visit once or twice a year.

I'll be there April 6-12 for my best friend's wedding. So that's a potential for me and potentially several friends to join.

I’m in Delaware, so I’m a maybe depending on where it is held and what date. Sounds exciting though!

Hey man, any thoughts on this? Getting closer to the date I'll be in town.

That week would be tight for me,  but not impossible. I'll know this week.

Worst case we can try to plan it around the next time you're in the area.  I know there are more people in the New England area... maybe I can drum up more interest.

A little update on this.

Moved to the DC Metro area recently. I'm still down for a sealed event of some kind!
I could be something other than FotR if more people wanted that.

I have enough material!

I'm within driving distance of DC, whenever the governor lifts the stay-at-home order.

Great! There's one :)
Domelotta said he's in Delaware, so that could be a possibility as well if he's still interested.
I would, of course, drive, if necessary, to make the meet-up location most convenient for all parties.

You're two-and-a-half years too late, Dmaz, for I now live in Southern California.

Look up jerba here--we played a game in person many years (7?) ago.

I’ve been meaning to travel back to New England...

I’ve been meaning to travel back to New England...

I guess it could still take place there, if the majority of the people were centered around New England!

Even though I'm located in Maryland now, I'll still be traveling to New England to visit family here and there.

I'll shoot for planning around the DC Metro area and see where that leads :)
