So it turns out email from the TLHH server has been broken for a while. No PM notifications but the worst part is you can't reset your password. I dug around for an hour or two trying to fix it in the backend but the forum software is hopelessly outdated (2007, woohoo!) and not cooperating with me. So for now it's going to remain broken until I'm motivated to hack at it again. :suspect: Password reset requests will have to be handled manually.
If there's an urgent site issue, feel free to email me. I don't log in often to check PMs but I will be more responsive to emails now than I have been for the last... decade? #-o

Really I'm just impressed at the dedication to keep the forum software at the same version it was when the game itself was still alive. Talk about historical accuracy.

Busy!
Aside from that... I think I got the notification emails working again. Quick everyone PM everyone else all at the same time!

I actually got an email notification entitled "Email" from this thread and thought you sent out a notification to everyone.
Perhaps a mass PM announcement is the way to go, particularly since that will now ping everyone's email inbox...

I prefer not to spam, but my guess is that since you replied to this topic it automatically set you up as subscribed. That's a setting you can change in your profile, I believe.

Right, I'm not mad. It was a good indicator...and considering how many people may be in a similar boat and not currently in the habit of checking back every day, a ping for everyone to know that it's working again isn't spam so much as a legit announcement.

Let me clarify: If I send an email that goes out to ~2600 "members" (mostly junk accounts that I need to prune), my email provider will consider it spam. Most providers have limits, e.g. Google's is 500 max recipients per message, 2000 max emails per day.

Ah. How did you get away with it in the past, then? You used to send out site-wide PMs. Just more members than there used to be?

Right, that was back when we were much smaller.
