I thought it would work better with (W) as it helps small crits. A (W)(B) cross... strong crit with a sac ability.

Here's my first step into the world of Magic DC's:
Volcano (R)(R)(R)(R)(R)
Sorcery
Sacrifice X untapped Mountains.
Damage target player X times.
Or should it be:
Volcano (R)(R)(R)(R)(R)
Sorcery
Sacrifice X untapped Mountains.
Target player receives X damage.

Actually, it'd be:
Volcano Blast (R)(R)(R)(R)(R) (Volcano is more of a Land name, they wouldn't waste it on a spell)
Sorcery
As an additional cost to play Volcano Blast, sacrifice X untapped Mountains.
Volcano Blast deals X damage to target player.

It sucks as a card, btw, but you'll soon figure that out yourself. It could EASILY cost a single red mana, with that steep additional cost. ;)

I think it would be fine and cleaner without the "untapped" restriction. And it could certainly be cheaper as FM pointed out. Tis cool though!
