Title: Super Set-Up Man Archery (Shadow Only)
Post by: legolas3333 on May 08, 2009, 02:15:01 AM
36 cards

Minions - 24
The Mouth Of Sauron, Messenger Of Mordor x4
Archer Of Harad x4
Southron Murderer x4
Mumak Rider x4
Mumak Commander, Giant Among The Swertings x4
Voice of the Desert, Southron Troop x4

Possessions - 2
Long Battle Bow
Pavise

Events - 6
Precision Targeting x3
Elevated Fire x3

Conditions - 6
Howdah x4
Caravan From The South
Rapid Reload

Okay here's how it works when you get a mouth of sauron, exert him to get pavise, then exert him 3 more times to pull, in order, Long Battle Bow, Howdah And Caravan From The South, boom, 4 tokens on Howdah and an archer minion for 9 twilight (less if the free peoples has possessions)

I would use Voice of the Desert as your unlikely to pull this off until region 2, and Voice means more archers.

elevated fire and precious targeting.  nuff said.  Chances are with the mouth of sauron, you will have one of the 3 other required cards in hand (or in the howdaws case in play with a token)  saving you one exertion for elevated fires toil.  meaning for 14-15 twilight, you can kick out 8 archery on 3 companions.  Chances are that'll kill 1-2 companions.

you could cut some fletcher of haradr...they really aren't neccasary for 2 each of elevated fire and precious targeting, cutting one mouth of sauron package allows you to bring em both up to 4 with 1-2 extra cards to stick stuff in.

Don't forget Countless Companies. Of course, I hate the way Howdah only lets you use it once >:(

P.S. IB kills archery decks.

You only have 12 minions. This will be a problem, as only Gollum decks can effectively run so few.

Not necessarily...

But in this case, definitely correct. Ideas for minions- Fletcher of Harad, Mumak Commander, GATS, Voice of the Desert. I'd toss out Long Battle Bow myself, pack a lone Rapid Reload, probably only 1 Pavise as well, that's enough to pull out the combo with Mouth of Sauron and slims the deck by 5. I don't run Caravan of the South, not really worth the card space. So tossing those 9 cards will free up room for the lone Rapid Reload, probably an extra Elevated Fire, if you're interested, Countless Companies w/ Pavise makes for a great Mouth package (go for Pavise, Companies and Rapid Reload then play a couple Mumak Commander). Grima, Footman of Saruman is a fun card as well, but there's probably better options.

added more minions, made the mouth a one-time deal and threw in a rapid reload for good measure look any better?
P.S. I had 16 minions :P

24 minions are perfect! I have experienced that minion should be represented in 2/3 of the cards in your shadow deck. (So, 24 minions out of 36 cards is a good start).

A Gothmog, Morgul Leader could be nice (adds 3 to the archery)! But it is not that important, just an idea. It should run well as it is now.

Take control of the correct site path (in this case with fellowship - traveled leader....) and play these sites again and again:

Anduin Banks
Stewards Tomb (important at sanctuary)
Doorway to Doom
....

I think NB is underestimating caravan of the south...I'd cut a southron murderer or 2 for more copies.
